ADRIAN — A 19-year-old Tecumseh woman admitted making a false report of being raped by a man in an attempt to get out of trouble for having sex with him. Kathleen Melissa Furlong pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lenawee County Circuit Court to making a false report of a felony.
“I was trying to get him in trouble and me out of trouble,” Furlong told Judge Margaret M.S. Noe. Charges of conspiracy to commit assault with intent to do great bodily harm and committing a crime with a computer are to be dismissed at sentencing on Feb. 1. Her $15,000 bond was reduced to personal recognizance.
The man she allegedly conspired with to assault the other man waived arraignment Wednesday. A Jan. 23 hearing was set for Brandon William Howard, 21, on charges of conspiracy to commit an assault, using a computer to commit a crime and aiding and abetting the false report of a felony. His bond was set at $10,000 when he was charged last month.
