Kirsty Sowden cried rape because she was trying for baby with boyfriend

A John Lewis sales assistant claimed she had been raped because she was so embarrassed about a sado-masochistic sex session, a court heard.

Kirsty Sowden, 21, met her victim online after advertising herself as a 'BDSM princess' - standing for Bondage, Domination and Sadomasochism - on a no-strings attached website.

She then voluntarily enjoyed a sex session at Andrew Boarer’s home in Maidstone, Kent, where she was spanked - and even wore a leather dog lead.

But Sowden, who was trying for a baby with her boyfriend at the time, was so guilt-wracked that she called police shortly afterwards and told them she had been raped.

Police eventually untangled the dominatrix’s web of lies and charged her with perverting the course of justice. The investigation had already cost nearly £14,000 and wasted a staggering 376 hours of police time.

Sowden, of Northfleet, Kent, pleaded guilty and was jailed for 14 months when she appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday

Sentencing, Judge Philip Statman said: 'I see little sign of genuine remorse from you or, indeed, any real understanding of just how serious your actions have been.

'Rape is a dreadful crime. False allegations of rape undermine the plight of genuine victims. The impact on your victim has been considerable

'What occurred in the privacy of his home, however much certain members of the community may find that reprehensible, has been made public.

'He has had to move on in work. He has been made the subject of ridicule. The police inquiry involved many officers and many, many hours of police time at considerable expense.

'You are a highly intelligent, well-educated young woman. At the time you were in good, full-time employment. But at the end of the day there is absolutely no doubt this offence passes the custody threshold.'

Sowden met Mr Boarer online in March last year. He was going through a divorce at the time and the pair arranged to meet at his flat.

She agreed to strip off within five seconds of her arrival and the pair indulged in various sex acts, including intercourse. Mr Boarer also put her in a dog collar and lead and spanked her.

In evidence to the court, he described how Sowden had said her boyfriend would kill her if he found out. 'They were trying for a baby and she felt guilty,' he said.

Shortly after the shop assistant had left his flat, she contacted police claiming she had been raped.

She described being attacked by a stranger as she left a gym in Gravesend, Kent, dragged into a park and sexually assaulted.

Police arrested a man based on her description but soon realised he was innocent.

As a separate line of enquiry, police traced DNA samples which led them to Mr Boarer, who was arrested at his workplace in front of a large number of colleagues.

He was questioned and held in a police cell before being released on bail.

It was only later that the police discovered an online exchange between the suspect and Sowden and realised that she had been lying.

Speaking after the case, DC Richard Dorey said that hundreds of hours and thousands of pounds were put into the investigation.

He said: 'The sentence of 14 months in jail is a fair sentence. It should stop people making unfounded allegations and is a very serious sentence for someone so young.

'She was maintaining, up to the last minute, parts of the account. She didn’t seem to want to be completely truthful.'

Malcolm Gilbert, who works for rape charity Family Matters, today condemned Sowden’s actions.

He said: 'The position of the group is unanimous in condemning any woman, or indeed any man, who makes false allegations because of the harm to genuine rape victims, to undermine the whole business of rape.

'It condemns all false allegations and they feel it should be pursued by the police in the way it has here.'

Police probe false ‘rape’ claim at Barshaw Park

POLICE sealed off part of a busy Paisley park after they received a report that a young schoolgirl had been raped.

Tape was used to close a section of Barshaw Park, in the town’s East End, as an investigation got under way.

The alarm had been raised after a girl, believed to be aged 13 or 14, told a pal that she had been attacked by an unknown man at the park at around 10pm on Saturday.

The Paisley Daily Express understands that both girls had been drinking alcohol and the friend then reported the matter to police.

Cops soon arrived at Barshaw Park to cordon off the area in order to preserve the scene.

However, when officers quizzed the alleged victim on Sunday morning, she told them she hadn’t been attacked.

Police could be seen at the park for most of Sunday morning before taking down the tape later that day.

A spokesman has confirmed that a rape allegation had been made on Saturday night but, following an investigation, it became clear the girl’s claims had “no foundation”.

Officers will now be clamping down on anti-social behaviour at Barshaw Park as the summer months get nearer.

Inspector Eddie Gray, who is based at the Mill Street police office in Paisley, told the Express: “This was an incident that was blown out of proportion due to young people consuming alcohol at the park.

“As the nights get brighter, we are aware of a number of youths congregating at Barshaw Park to drink alcohol. It is something that we see every year and we’ll be using officers on plain-clothes patrol to target this behaviour.

“We’ll also be speaking to local licence holders in the area.

“We are confident that the shopowners would not sell to underage youths but we want to make them more aware of the possibility of agent purchases, which involves people over the age of 18 buying and providing alcohol to youngsters.”

Anyone who has concerns about anti-social behaviour at Barshaw Park is asked to call Paisley police office on 0141 532 5900.

Norwalk woman gets 7 months in prison for false rape statement

A 20-year-old woman who falsely accused two men of rape was sentenced to a total of seven months and one day in prison Friday at Norwalk Superior Court.

Brittany Reith, of 7 Commerce St., also received two years of probation after pleading guilty to falsely reporting an incident in the second degree, violation of probation and fourth-degree larceny.

Reith was arrested in June for filing a fabricated sworn, written statement accusing two innocent men of raping her at gunpoint.

As a result of Reith's statement, patrol officers arrested two innocent men on April 7 for felony sexual assault and battery charges.

The charges against both men were dropped after detectives conducted further investigation and found serious inconsistencies in Reith's statement, police said.

Police found out that Reith had stayed out all night partying with one of the men and concocted the story about the rape after arriving at her boyfriend's apartment home more than 12 hours late.

Detectives obtained video surveillance and witness statements that corroborated the men's' alibis and contradicted the Reith's story, according to an affidavit.

While her false statement case was pending, she was arrested for stealing laptops from her uncle's business and violating the conditions of her probation.

At her sentencing, Reith did not apologize for any specific actions, but she expressed regret for wasting the court's time.

She also told the court that she plans to continue with her education and move on with her life when she gets out of prison.

Hurricane woman arrested in false rape report

A Hurricane woman was arrested Sunday, after police said she lied about someone breaking into her house and raping her.

Amber Rochelle Levering, 27, told police on Dec. 21 that a man she didn't know broke into her home and forced her to have sex, according to a criminal complaint filed in Putnam County Magistrate Court.

On Sunday, a State Police trooper returned to Levering's house to follow up on the investigation. According to the criminal complaint, Levering told the officer she lied about what had happened.

Levering told police that she had been out partying with friends and had consumed alcohol and prescription drugs. She said the next day, when her friends brought her back to her house she had to break in because she had forgotten her purse, the complaint states.

Levering made up the story about a man breaking into her house and raping her because, police said, she didn't want her mother to know she had been partying.

Police arrested Levering for providing false information to police and falsely reporting an emergency. She was released after posting $5,000 bond.

Christina Almanza, 17, 'pretended she was kidnapped by sex traffickers to hide her pregnancy from her parents'

While not a false rape/sexual assault case, the use of lying about being kidnapped by sex traffickers, to avoid the uncomfortable position of telling your parents you're pregnant, is abominable.

A teenager pretended she had been kidnapped by sex trafficking gang to avoid telling her parents she was pregnant.

Christina Almanza called her parents and suggested that there was also another girl being held against her will who had been killed.

An Amber Alert was issued for the 17-year-old after she called her parents and claimed she had been abducted.

In a series of text messages Almanza allegedly told her parents that she and other females were being imprisoned in a basement and that she believed one of the other females had been killed.

Her parents immediately contacted police who launched a multi agency search, including the FBI and US Marshalls, for the missing teen.

But the abduction was a hoax and police said the teen came up with the idea in an attempt to get sympathy from her family.

Local TV station Fox40 said Alamanza, who has a two year old child, may be pregnant and had been afraid to tell her family.

A family friend said she had hoped the abduction story would win her sympathy from her parents and make them less angry about the pregnancy.

Police in Suisun , California, are now considering making Alamanza foot the bill for their search.
Almanza told police that she did not expect law enforcement to get involved in the case when she sent the text messages to her parents.

After the Amber alert was issued last Friday local police, California Highway Patrol and US Marshalls became involved in the search.

Almanza was found unharmed at the house of a man she had been corresponding with on social networking sites.

She later confessed to making up the story about the abduction.

Almanza was arrested on suspicion of filing a false police report and issued a notice to appear before being released to her parents.

Two others contacted by police in the apartment where Almanza was located were detained and released after questioning, police said.

News Round-Up: Three stories about women charged with false rape claims

Here are three stories in the news about women charged with filing false rape claims:

Temecula woman suspected of filing false burglary, attempted rape report

On August 9th, an unnamed woman (we have no idea why she is unnamed if she lied and wasn't a "victim" of anything), told Riverside County sheriff's deputies that had returned home to find her home ransacked, and was then attacked from behind by a man and that he tried to rape her.

She claimed that she struggled with the assailant (heroically, we are certain), and was able to get free and lock herself in the bathroom and call 911.

She gave a description of the man, claiming he had fled before the police arrived. One wonders, during the course of the investigation, how many men were questioned based on her description?

During the course of the investigation, Detectives noted inconsistencies with her statement, and after further interviews with her, she admitted that she had made up her story, to cover up for recent gambling losses, that she didn't want to family to find out about.

The case has been sent to the D.A.'s office with the recommendation that she be charged with filing a false police report, which is a misdemeanor.

Shippensburg area woman charged for falsely alleging a man raped a teen

On Friday, the 26th of August, Holly Sue Lemming called 911 and reported that the 13 year old sister of her boyfriend, had been raped. As of this point, it appears that nothing actually happened.

On Monday, she was charged with making a false report to police with the intent to implicate another, which is a second degree misdemeanor. (This indicates that she actually named, or pointed the finger at a specific individual.)

Pennsylvania State Police responded to the 1200 block of the Orrstown Road in Southampton Township, Franklin County, around 7:30 p.m. to a claimed rape.

A police affidavit states that Lemming told a trooper that a 36 year old man (again, a fairly certain indication that she named a specific individual) raped her boyfriend's sister, and that she heard this happen. Here's what she said occurred:

The girl was outside, playing with the hose, and when she came back in, the man entered with her, and followed the girl to her room. Lemming then stated that she heard the girl scream "you should not be in here" and "don't take my pats off", and that she tried to get in the room, but couldn't open the door.

The problems started when police talked to the girl, and she denied she had been harmed in any way, and that Lemming hadn't even been at the house that day. Her brothers and mother backed up that story and that they were unaware of any such incident taking place.

Here is where we get to the meat of the story. The girl's mother told police that she had recently kicked Lemming and her son out of the house. After speaking with the family, Lemming was interviewed again, and that is when she admitted to lying about the rape and that she hadn't been at the home.

Sex assault charge dropped; prostitution charged

There really isn't much to say here. While none of the people involved appear to be the most upstanding of citizens, a false sexual assault or rape charge is, of course, never warranted. There is one comment on my part toward the bottom of the story.

MANCHESTER — Sexual assault charges against four men accused of raping and robbing a woman in a hotel room Aug. 23 were dropped Tuesday and the 26-year-old woman who made the allegations will face charges.

Police prosecutor Captain Robert Cunha said the men are now charged with prostitution in connection with the incident at a Comfort Inn hotel room Aug. 23, in which the woman allegedly offered to perform sexual acts in return for money.

“It was evidently a prostitution thing,” Police Chief David Mara said. “A dispute happened because she didn't get paid.”

The woman told police she was invited to the hotel by one of the four men and thought she was going to a party, but was sexually assaulted and robbed. A police captain at the time called the incident “a brutal and terrifying crime.”

“She made a false report and will subsequently be charged,” Mara said.

Police did not release the name of the woman, who as of Tuesday hadn't yet been charged. The men are Abdulai Barrie, 31, of Alexandria, Va.; Leroy Tarwea Kear, 24, of 224 Auburn St.; Abdul Kabia, 29, of 193 E. Hollis St., Nashua; and Dorbor Nyonee, 23, of 82 W. Brook St.

Bail was set at $10,000 personal recognizance, with conditions barring contact with the woman, who is now living in Derry. Trial was set for Nov. 16 for all four men.

Cunha declined to say whether the woman voluntarily recanted her story or how investigators concluded her story wasn't accurate.

“That whole part of it is part of an ongoing investigation,” he said. “Our goal is to get to the truth of every occurrence. I'm glad (investigators) continued to dig and find out exactly what happened. Their efforts essentially kept us from moving forward with what we now know is incorrect information.”

Police Sgt. Kristen Taylor said statistics show that sexual assault is an under-reported crime and she hopes the turn of events in this situation will not deter women from reporting sexual assaults.

[COMMENT] - Sorry Sergent, but if something isn't reported, you have no idea what the "statistics" are on it. It is unknowable. Reporters seem wilfully ignorant of anything beyond mantras repeated by what can aptly be called the sexual grievance industry.

Kear and Nyonee are also charged with contempt of court for allegedly committing a crime while out on bail. Nyonee was also arraigned on an unrelated felony forgery charge, stemming from an alleged counterfeit check scheme. Bail is $2,000 cash/surety on that charge and a probable cause hearing on the felony was scheduled for Sept. 7.

Girl,18, Drops False Rape Charge

Another false accusation, to keep from getting in trouble with the family.

Bangu Balayi admitted to lying about being raped. Why did she lie? Because she was afraid that her mother would be angry that she spent the night with him and overslept.

This is the same man that is the father to her baby, and that she has had a relationship with for close to two years.

He was, of course, suspended from his job. One also wonders what type of suspicion and hostility was directed at him from the community?

Amanda Moyes gets 1 year in jail

As we've often discussed on this blog, there should be varying punishments for a false allegation of rape or sexual assault, depending on how far the case/investigation goes, whether someone is arrested or not, along with several other factors.

In the following story, Amanda Moyes has received one year in jail.

The reason she said she was raped? She cheated on the man she was in a relationship with. She left for three days and had consensual sex with the man she accused, then, when she went back to the man she was in a relationship with, she said she was raped.

The man she accused spent almost a day in jail over her accusation. Unless you have been in his shoes, you can only imagine what he went through mentally during that time in custody.

She also was given a year suspended sentence for perverting the course of justice.

A young lady who falsely accused her god brother of rape has been fined $3000. Police are still unsure whether this god brother actually exists.

23-year-old Li Jieyin reported the rape to a senior police officer at the Bedok North Police Post on 14 May 2009 at 7.55 pm.  She said she had been raped by her god brother in a hotel in Geylang on 12 May.

Feeling guilty towards her actual boyfriend, she later returned to the police to confess that the whole story had been made up.
