Saskatchewan woman gets more jail time for assaulting police officer

A woman who falsely accused a police officer of sexual assault has now been sentenced for assaulting a police officer.

Myrtle Chamakese, 37, of the Pelican Lake First Nation, received three months in jail.

That will be tacked on to the six months she is currently serving for the false accusation.

Court was told Tuesday that Chamakese scratched a Spiritwood RCMP officer as he tried to place her in a patrol car.

Defence lawyer Brent Little said Chamakese is scared of most members of the Spiritwood detachment.

”RCMP officer”

Oh, Great!

Now I'm stuck with the image of that most famous of Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers, Dudley Do-right, in my head.

” Defence lawyer Brent Little said Chamakese is scared of most members of the Spiritwood detachment.”

Right! Because people who are scared of police are bound to try to attack them rather than cooperated when being arrested. And, they are also likely to chose to make them a target of their false allegations, because, well, if you’re scared of them, what could possibly go wrong by falsely accusing one of them?

There’s probably a very entertaining story that goes with the events that is not revealed in this sparse news account. You’d think news papers would be more interested in grabbing their readers attention. They sure as Hell do whenever they have some dirt on some guy, or even a woman involved in some other sort of crime.

But, when the crime is a woman making and FRA, it’s suddenly a “Just the facts, Ma’am” situation. A quick check of the “mysask.com” headlines reveals that they give much greater coverage to a story about Halloween decorations being vandalized. But, a women making false rape allegations, and attacking a Mountie, well, “Nothing to see here, folks!”

She got 6 months for makeing a false accusation of rape! Tell me if you can anyone out there if the man was guilty how much time would of he had to serve? I think that there should be something done with false accusations to serve compaireable time then that of the crime.
