Below is the most inane, contemptible, jaw-dropping -- indeed, downright other-worldly -- letter defending injustice we've seen in a long time. We offer no further comment on it because there aren't enough synonyms for "despicable" in the English language.
First, the context: last week, Brown University's student newspaper, the Daily Herald, published a thoughtful piece by Hunter Fast, who had some perceptive comments about the William McCormick case; specifically, about "the damage that [a school's] profit motives can inflict on the cause of criminal justice." Hunter wrote: "When allegations of rape were brought to the University administration against McCormick in 2006, administrators summarily expelled him from campus without anything resembling due process. According to McCormick . . . . the University deferred to its profit motive because the alleged victim's father is an influential University donor." Hunter added: "Unfortunately, because the case was taken up by the University — an arbiter with an obvious conflict of interest — justice may never be possible in this case in any real sense."
But then yesterday, a Brown alumnus posited the following defense of the school's handling of the McCormick case:
"To the Editor:
"Hunter Fast '12, in his opinion column related to the alleged William McCormick sexual assault incident at Brown ("It can't happen here," Nov. 11), forgets an important issue that supports the University's management of the unfortunate incident: Women have always been at an extreme disadvantage when faced with sexual aggression. What is rape all about? It is the physical coercion of a man seeking sexual domination over a woman. It is one of the historical tragedies in the history of mankind that has never been resolved. As such there is no level playing field in sexual relationships. Women who have been raped have to deal with a male-dominated and biased justice system, a male-dominated and biased police force, and yes, even a male-dominated and biased student body that at one time included McCormick.
"The University is to be applauded for its attempt to level this playing field. It has chosen not to expose the female student to the inequality of the justice system. The message to all males is: 'You need to check your behavior carefully before you enter into a relationship with a woman. There will be no due process if you are accused of rape. The woman's version of what happened will always be accepted over the man's account.'
"If a male student knew that was the policy hopefully this would serve as a check on sexually aggressive behavior. McCormick might have backed away from this relationship, knowing the consequences he might face. He might well have remained a part of the student body, and everyone would be wiser.

Most outrageous comment of the year: The absence of due process for college men accused of rape serves 'as a check on sexually aggressive behavior'

There is a certain logic to this asshole's letter. That's one way to stop rapists-just do away with due process. Of course he doesn't mention what that means for men wrongly accused.
If you think about it, every injustice starts out as a "check" on something that someone doesn't like. The problem is that it goes too far and punishes the innocent with the guilty.
Wow. All that can be said. That guy is something else, even for white knight extremists.
Let the extremism continue until it collapses under its own unsupportable weight. Until men individually and collectively aggressively fight misandry, and stop interacting with and supporting women, government, and society the war against men will continue.

'The woman's version of what happened will always be accepted over the man's account'
Presumably so, even if the man never even had sex with the woman.
"If a male student knew that was the policy hopefully this would serve as a check on sexually aggressive behavior."
Sigh, it's because of this very reason why men are wary of woman's company full stop. That means marriage too Tom.
"The message to all males is: 'You need to check your behavior carefully before you enter into a relationship with a woman."--Notice how they assume it's the men's fault & assume that all men are potentially dangerous animals(Apologies to peta)-They think men are dangerous monsters & women helpless victims--What I'd like to know,is,"The woman's version of what happened will always be accepted over the man's account."-what if a male student accused a female student of rape or harassment--Would they still believe the woman then like they said or does it only apply to men accused of a crime,Would women get due process? Somehow,I think Yes,They would because they're helpless little women who can't hurt anyone & are suffering from the evil patriarchy,-Before long,Men won't even be able to speak to a woman unless spoken to first & doing otherwise will constitute "Harassment".
The douchebag who wrote that comment, boy would I love to see him get accused of rape.
Gender-feminists are poisining hetero-sexual relationships.
Gender-feminists don't like sports, cause they wan't sickly children all f##cked up on psych drugs.
If someone doesn't point out who the driving force behind the perversions are, then it never gets said.
I must ask: Do people actually think that rapists will care about the absence of due process?
Stripping away due process might result in more "wins" for accusers, but it no more deters rapists than the death penalty deters murderers. If someone wants to rape, I doubt they are going to check the college's rules to see what will happen if the victim reports them.
So why not do away with due process for mothers accused of harming their children? Doesn't that necessarily follow? Especially since children are so very disadvantaged when faced when adult female physical, emotional, psychological and sexual violence.
Actually, I suspect if a parallel law were enacted for the protection of children from mothers was to be coupled with every law 'protecting' women from men, then women voters would be forced to see what we men have to deal with, and moderate their demands accordingly.
"That's one way to stop rapists-just do away with due process."
Actually, it wouldn't be. According to the same people, ninety-something percent of rapes are unreported. So if every report resulted in a death sentence, it would barely make a dent.
These feminists have crafted a self-perpetuating problem that is both invisible and unsolvable. Since they will always argue the lack of reports means women are not coming forward, they will always argue that more needs to be done. Yet, no matter what anyone does, whether it has any effect on rape or not, will always be irrelevant. By it's very construction, it's a problem that cannot have a solution -- more reports means more rape, and fewer reports means more underreporting. Since there is no evidence of a campus rape epidemic now, there can never be any evidence of it ever ending. It will always be unreported.
"The message to all males is: 'You need to check your behavior carefully before you enter into a relationship with a woman. There will be no due process if you are accused of rape. The woman's version of what happened will always be accepted over the man's account.'"
Well yea... that is the message. I don't get it. Misandry is a justification for misandry? Wow.
This guy's comment seems self contradictory and hypocritical. Almost cynical to the level of sarcasm:
""The University is to be applauded for its attempt to level this playing field. It has chosen not to expose the female student to the inequality of the justice system. The message to all males is: 'You need to check your behavior carefully before you enter into a relationship with a woman. There will be no due process if you are accused of rape. The woman's version of what happened will always be accepted over the man's account.'"
Bizarre! This guy must have allot of inner tumult to spit something so self-contradictory as that out as respectable opinion. Poor guy...
"There will be no due process if you are accused of rape. The woman's version of what happened will always be accepted over the man's account." Why would that ever sound like justice to anyone? A psychotic system that takes away the basic rights of human beings? Why should a woman's account be higher than a mans? That woman needs to be exposed, and SHAMED. Her bigotry towards men, and the entire schools bigotry towards men, are beyond unacceptable. Everyone involved in this LYNCHING deserves every bad thing that has and ever will happen to them, and then some.
Come ON.
All of you are being played.
The man who wrote this is OBVIOUSLY on our side. This letter, when read by any rational person, clearly helps our cause--that's why it was reprinted here.
You all need to learn to recognize sarcasm when you see it.
Maybe your right, but you know it's not really definitive is it? People out there really think like this. I'm not totally sure.
