AN £80 FINE was issued by police last week after a woman made a false rape report.
Neighbourhood team leader for St Austell police, Paul Jones, said officers received a report from a female in the early hours of Saturday, September 24, claiming that she had been attacked and raped by a stranger.
Two detective constables worked on the case because they were not happy with what they were being told.
They then found out that the female had made the story up.
She was issued with an £80 fixed penalty fine for wasting police time.
"On the one hand, we want to publicise that if false reports are made they will be dealt with in this way," said Mr Jones. "But at the same time we don't want to discourage genuine victims from coming forward.
"People who do this make it worse for genuine victims of sexual offences."

Hey wait a minute, I hear all over the place that women and girls would never, ever, ever, ever, ever lie about such a thing as rape.
In fact I've had screaming Gender-Raunch lesbians nearly attacking me when i pointed out a few false rape claims like Duke lacrosse, Hofstra, ect,ect.
Women never lie about rape, accept when they lie about rape.
