I'd have to a say that it's more of a human rights issue.
A men's rights issue would be more in keeping with those examples wherein women are encouraged to commit violence against men if they happen to to find something about the man objectionable - the reverse, of course, remaining strictly verboten. (I seriously doubt that I actually need to list any of the numerous obvious examples).
I love how when a girl get's beat--For any number of reasons it's a "woman's rights issue"--Yet when a boy gets beat it has nothing 2 do with gender & is just grouped in 2 crime in general--Double Standard Anyone???
I am not as well versed on gender orientation issues as I probably should be, but I think it is a men's rights issue any time males suffer because they are males -- and I don't see this sort of thing happening to girls because of their sexual orientation. (I also think Anon at 2:45 has a point: by "suffer" I don't mean just being beaten by a male classmate.)
The bully, if I were king, would be expelled and sent to juvie.
Having said that I'm seriously bothered by the fact that people are obsessing over the fact that victim's a gay kid as if that makes the crime worse. Suppose the bully beat up a straight kid who was small or just bad at sports? Would that be any less reprehensible?
How about the idea that bullying is bad regardless of the motivation and that beating someone who can't or won't defend themselves is wrong and deserving of punishment in and of itself?
Homophobia is infuriatingly stupid and gay bashing repugnant as all get out. But, it seems to me that the liberal habit of focusing on the protection of women and minorities while treating white straight males almost exclusively as potential aggressors serves to drive a wedge between between them and their overall self interest about as well as any Karl Rovian device.
But I'm just a nasty old concern troll who secretly hates women and minorities. Don't listen to me.
I find it curious that gay rights is now a mens rights issue, when all i have witnessed is gay males marching with Gender feminists perverting the system to attack hetero-sexiual males. Maybe mens rights has many branches, and my branch just seems to be focused to end the gender feminist inspired protocol perversions and semantics games that American law enforcement are now engaged in to persecute innocent men, and enable violent women. I welcome the support, but i just have never witnessed a gay male that does not march with Gender-Raunch in attacking heterosexuals.
Gender-Raunch blame this attack of the gay kid on hetero-dominance and hetero-males of american society, instead of on the kid that beat the gay kid up. This is unaccepteable.

Contrarily I have. I even have lesbian friends who strongly agree with virtually everything I say re mens rights. It's worth remembering that lesbians know what it's like to be in a relationship with a woman.
Recently gay mens groups in my region have been very helpful to male victim groups even where they are heterosexual victims.
So gay male rights is a gender-feminist issue, and now its a mens rights issue?? There seems to be a disconnect here folks, all the gay males i have met march with gender-feminists in attacking the hetero-patriarchy. How many perversions have been enacted into our legal system because of this organised attack on the hetero-patriarchy??
Every civilized society must strive to (1) eradicate heinous crimes by punishing the offenders, and (2) insure that the innocent aren't punished along with the offenders. Too often, the second half of that balance is omitted from the public discourse. Accusations of serious criminality, especially murder and sexual wrongdoing, too often are their own convictions in the high court of public opinion because the stigma is so severe. It is our mission to raise awareness about the injustices suffered by persons wrongly accused of serious criminality. Protecting the innocent from unjust harm as a result of a wrongful accusation is a hallmark of a civilized society.

Make no mistake, it's a boy who beat him, but hatred for gay boys is every bit as widespread or more so among girls.
"This is also a men's rights issue . . ."

Maybe you're working in the wrong circles.

"It turns my stomach," Collins told ABC's affiliate station. "It's my son. I don't care, and they did it just because he's a homosexual."
Would she have made such a statement if her son were falsely accused of raping/sexually assaulting/assaulting a female?
