Mary Kellett Needs to be removed as a prosecutor, if not from the practice of law all-together.
She has no discernable objectivity, and, as plainly exposed, no ability to even be honest in her approach to criminal cases. She represents the worst of what a prosecutor can be/become – a zealot.
She may be even less suited to being a prosecutor than was Wendy Murphy, who looks back on her time as a prosecutor with distaste for the way her fellow prosecutors never did “enough” for female victims and didn’t work hard enough to ensure than no man was ever acquitted. Murphy has even written that woman are so poorly “served” by prosecutors that they need to have additional personal representation (at tax-payer expense, of course) by a woman’s advocate lawyer.
Mary Kellett seems to “style” herself much as another “Wendy Murphy”, who believes her job is not to represent the interest of the state and the public in seeking to bring about justice for crimes committed, but rather as being the representative of any and all female (alleged) victim’s to ensure that men are punished irrespective of matters of guilt or innocence.
Truly, she is the worst of all possible candidates to be doing the work that those in the DA’s Office are sworn to do, and upholding the law, not making a mockery of it.
Arod, I’ve never known you to have any sort of “soft-spot” for prosecutors. I’m kind of surprised that you’d only call for her to be removed from that one case. I’m the one usually sticking-up for prosecutors, and, Hell, I want her GONE! She is an abomination that pulls down all other prosecutors who are of good name and reputation.
Every civilized society must strive to (1) eradicate heinous crimes by punishing the offenders, and (2) insure that the innocent aren't punished along with the offenders. Too often, the second half of that balance is omitted from the public discourse. Accusations of serious criminality, especially murder and sexual wrongdoing, too often are their own convictions in the high court of public opinion because the stigma is so severe. It is our mission to raise awareness about the injustices suffered by persons wrongly accused of serious criminality. Protecting the innocent from unjust harm as a result of a wrongful accusation is a hallmark of a civilized society.
