We've been following the rape charges against college superstar baseball player Garrett Wittels since January. He and two buddies were on vacation at the Atlantis in the Bahamas last December when they hooked up with two young women and had sex. The young women later accused the three young men of rape. It had all the markings of a false rape claim from the outset. As time went on, more revelations cast even more doubt on the veracity of the claims.
Among other things, security camera footage appeared to contradict what the women told Bahamian authorities. In addition, the father of one of the accusers -- who chaperoned the girls on their visit to the Atlantis -- once was accused of planning to hire a woman to falsely claim she was raped at a professional sporting event.
Now, at last, authorities in the Bahamas have decided the evidence didn’t support prosecution. Defense lawyer Richard Sharpstein said the accusations stemmed from an apparent attempt to extort money from the Atlantis resort. See here: http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2011/06/20/bahamas-drops-rape-charges-against-fius-wittels/
Great result, but trying to restore Garrett's good name will be like trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Or unringing a bell. He and his friend's have had their reputations unjustly tarnished because of a stupid college boy decision - a decision that is common among young men in college, even upstanding young men. In this case, the accusers will suffer no harm, and they can just go sit at the bar and wait for the next unsuspecting college boy to snare.
This is just another in a seemingly endless parade of examples of how we've handed young women far too much power to destroy young men with rape lies.
Garrett is one of the lucky ones. He got out of the ring alive. But he's been badly beaten. Let's pray he recovers from the ordeal.

A chilling story; thanks for bringing it to light!
Glad the charges have been dropped and wishing the authorities or someone would go after the accusers. It would be great if men who were falsely accused afterwards joins up in support of the MRM against the misandry. I'm sure a few do yet where are the rest? Sure, some need to emotionally distance themselves to forget yet most I'm assuming can get active.

MSNBC is, not surprisingly, not reporting (yet) that charges have been dropped or perhaps they did recently and I didn't notice it. Sure enough, they are reporting that a woman, 20 years old, in Seattle has been abducted off the street. Wonder if it is a true abduction or another prank...

Atlas - ”Glad the charges have been dropped and wishing the authorities or someone would go after the accusers.”
They may. I’d like to know more about this attempted extortion that the defense has mentioned:
”Defense lawyer Richard Sharpstein said the accusations stemmed from an apparent attempt to extort money from the Atlantis resort…” & "This case was nothing but an outrageous persecution of Garrett based on perjured testimony, a pack of lies told by these young ladies and encouraged by one of their fathers, who attempted to execute an extortion scam against Atlantis."
Sounds as if the allegation is not simply that the father may have been planning to do so, but had actually made some attempt to extort money from the resort.
It almost sounds as if the father may have been “pimping out” the two girls by having them go get drinks (illegally) and then troll for some guys to have sex with so that he could then try to blame the resort for serving them alcohol and for not providing security for young women. A literal “Pimp Daddy”?
It’s never been discussed here on FRS, but many years back, the Disney Resorts company was the target of a staged-rape extortion plot. A young women went so far as to get her own cousin to have sex with her in her effort to make a rape claim for which she could hold the resorts security responsible.
Now word yet on whether Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s alleged victim is planning to bring a multi-million dollar law suit against the Sofitel New York for putting her in a “dangerous situation” and failing to “protect her”.
But, by all appearances, hotels and resorts, much like celebrities, are prime candidates for staged-rape extortion plots.
You know what, Brandon, maybe if some college boys had paid attention to our warnings, they wouldn't get themselves in trouble with lying scum they sleep with. Yeah?
Where are the main stream media outlets???
Main stream media outlets should be held accountable for inflaming prejudice against these guys.
When main stream media "Spin" a story as rape (when it was not), why cant these "gender-journalist perverts" be held financially accountable for their slander??
Atlas, i have learned from talking with others that most falselly accused just want the most dreadfull and painfull thing that has happened in their life "The false Rape Accusation", to just go away, they just want to blot it out as best they can.
I have realized there are two basic responses to traumatic experiences in life, they are the basic "Fight or Flight" response. Most guys understand they are up against an "ARMY OF GENDER FEMINST PERVERTS", and choose the flight response rather than the fight response.
This "ARMY OF GENDER-FEMINST PERVERTS" are well funded, and they have American law enforcement "perverting and manufacturing "Empowerment" statistics" for them, WHICH MAKES THEM A FORMIDABLE FOE.
Can you blame most of the guys falsely accused of rape if they choose the flight option??
The problem with so many guys choosing the "Flight" option, is that the gender-Raunch feminist beast just keeps getting bigger, Raunchier, and more and more "Empowered".
Atlas, Those that choose the fight option are in the extreme minority, But to run from the fight, would make you feel the "sting from the perverts who have been Empowered from yer pain" every day for the rest of yer life.
"In addition, the father of one of the accusers -- who chaperoned the girls on their visit to the Atlantis -- once was accused of planning to hire a woman to falsely claim she was raped at a professional sporting event."
It seems that an *accusation* against this man (viz., of making false accusations) treated as evidence that he has made such accusations or that he's untrustworthy. But without a conviction or evidence that he has in fact made such false accusations (I've learned from reading this blog that an accusation isn't much evidence, after all!), this doesn't seem warranted.
(I made a comment to this effect yesterday and it still hasn't made its way through the mod que; hopefully this one will fare better)
