Off-Topic: Boys' Track Coach Fired After Some Members of the Team Train Shirtless, Because it Made the Girls' Team 'Uncomfortable'

Tom Davis was fired as the boys’ track and field coach at Westwood High School in Massachusetts because some members of his team trained shirtless and it made the girls' team unhappy.

A couple of weeks ago, Westwood High athletic director Karl Fogel told Mr. Davis that several members of Westwood’s girls’ track team were "uncomfortable" with boys running shirtless in practice on the same track. Davis warned his team about possible punishment for not wearing a shirt.

Nevertheless, a few days ago, on a 75-degree day, a member of the boys' team unilaterally decided to run without his shirt, and Fogel became irate.  He fired Mr. Davis in front of his team, and had him escorted off the property.

The reason for firing Mr. Davis, and the manner in which it was accomplished, are inexcusable, and if Mr. Fogel is being made to look like a jackass in the court of public opinion, all the better.

But the underlying issue -- about the girls feeling "uncomfortable" being around the bare chests of their male classmates -- is troubling.

Why did the overt display of male flesh offend the girls?  Surely they couldn't be complaining because the boys were flabby and visually unappealing -- the way the girls' mothers talk about their fathers and other middle-aged men who dare to go shirtless in public -- could they?

My guess is that the girls felt "uncomfortable" because girls have to cover up and boys can go shirtless without causing a stir, and it's that simple. My guess is that the girls believe the world is stacked in the boys' favor -- after all, they've been hearing that all their lives -- and that if the girls have to sweat in shirts, so should the boys.

My guess is that if the girls ever stopped to think how convenient urinals are, they'd want them banned, too.  Oh, wait. They already tried that in Sweden, remember? http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3724/is_200004/ai_n8889753/

Did it make the whole girls team un-happy, or just a few vulgar, loud mouth, gender-raunch girls.

Massachusetts school systems are NOW dominated by gender-raunch. These girls are just abusing the "Empowerment" that perverted eunuchs in the schools administration have given them.
Boys have been practicing with their shirts off for thousands of years...then an "Empowered" gender-raunch comes along.
Gender-raunch don't like sports, they want sickly, sedated, and perverted children.

Excellent.
Here is the shining case in point that degenerates have seized the "rights" movements to further perversion.

I dunno about "raunch" but that is as good a word as any I have at my disposal.

Perversion or degenerates or subversives fit the bill also, but does not have that
raunch zing...

Hey, if they want to let the girls practice shirtless as well, I'm all for that. These girls are probably 16 and up and hence in reality young women.

Oh wait. That would mean that male gaze would be "objectifying them". We can't have that!

So the solution is simple. The girls should train in burkas and the boys in ninja coverings. That way the practices wouldn't make anyone "uncomfortable" though I bet everyone would be uncomfortable.

What a bunch of whackadoodles and double standards. And I hope that asshole administrator is fired.

I wonder if this school has a boy's swim team ...

Is it Sweden that forbids men from peeing standing up?

Actually, I'm siding with the girl's team on this one. It is undeniably unfair that boys can go top-free in some public places, and girls cannot. In the interest of fairness, equality, and the age-old human quest for aesthetics, I propose that the restriction against females removing their tops be be repealed immediately.

And the moral of the story is...

Women do as they please, men do as they're told. Anything else is called sexist, oppressive patriarchy.

This is the very essence of feminism.

-The part i have trouble with is that the AD that fir4ed him A) had a bad history with the coach and B) has struck a student and kept his job.

Let me repeat that.

He committed a battery (offensive touching, typically a misdemeanor in US jurisdictions) against a student.

Criminal keeps his job, coach that told his runners not to go topless (he told them they could get kicked off the team if they did it again) and one of them did it anyway, loses his job.

That school has got to be run by monkeys.

What's wrong with that boys. This is a terrible hypocrisy.

Actually this cannot make girls unhappy. And it's so natural. If these girls are really feminine they must have female feelings. These girls may be feminists.

teen girls 'uncomfortable' with athletic shirtless teen boys? that's different.

my gut says those girls were inspired by some adults with an agenda; maybe a feminist one.

The local Massachusetts united gender-raunch community flexing their muscles.

They want burkas for boys? What about all these little bitches who swoon over the shirtless "twilight" cast? This is clearly just another feminist "power and control" trip.

"What about all these little bitches who swoon over the shirtless "twilight" cast?"

It's all about control. Women need to dictate when they will be subjected to male flesh.

Notice it's OK for "sluts" to do whatever they want (the slutworks are popping up everywhere), but shirtless boys training for athletic contests? Forget it!

They need to start a group for "survivors of discomfort"... federally funded of course.

Actually you are right, Atlas. Read the Boston.com article.

"A week later, he said one of his athletes came in from a run shirtless and Fogel confronted him. Davis said he then received an e-mail from Fogel saying that Fogel didn’t personally have a problem with the athletes running shirtless and that the issue was coming from Westwood High principal Emily Parks.

Davis says multiple requests for meetings with school officials to discuss the matter were ignored."

Basically a washed up feminazi was bitching about it and when he tried to have discussions about it they were refused. Real nice, huh.

Who has "Empowered" the Massachusetts gender-Raunch community???
Every law enforcement protocol perversion that arrests an innocent man in a domestic violence call "manufactures a statistic". That manufactured statistic then gets funneled onto the desk of the local "gender-Raunch" professor, of which he then uses the perverted and manufactured statistic to attack all men (well heterosexuals), and by default gender-raunch become "Empowered".

Exagerated feminism and the way things are going are ridiculous. If there is one responsible(and I'm not saying there is one) should be the teacher or the student that disobeyed the order ? I'm not even questioning the right or wrong about female discomfort (which I personally think its BS). The principal should be fired, the coach reinstated and then we can start talking about the right or wrong of the discomfort.

The real marvel here is that the fathers and mothers of these boys consented to the very public spiritual and cultural castration of their sons. Shirtless male athletics has a long and harmless history in our culture and its shutdown in numerous schools (Fairfax County Virginia had drama over this several years ago and the boys lost.) is more serious than it first appears.

It says that male and female are fungible, exchangeable, that there is no difference between the two genders.

It promotes the completely erroneous idea that most women want to exercise shirtless. This is obviously nonsense: think of the physics involved in a mature woman running or doing other serious exercise shirtless. And, as my sister said, laughing over the whole silly matter: "These are a negotiation!"

It gives in to neurotics. We listen to them far too often, especially when they are claiming the coveted status of victim.

In some cases it may give in to incompletely adjusted male-identified women (the happy and adjusted among this population would laugh this one off) who want
to project their unhappiness on the world at large.

And finally, at the end of the day, Westwood High has made its young men behave like girls: public cultural castration.
