Those who harbor delusions of "rape culture," where attitudes of sexual aggression and dominance are supposedly normalized (yes, "normalized" is the word they always use) in constructions of masculinity, go to great pains to insist that there is no such thing as a typical rapist. They suggest that the handsome, white, blue-eyed, hetero, upper middle class, Christian, college athlete down the street is just as likely to be a rapist as the underprivileged kid from the inner city who grew up without a father.
The late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said that "everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts."
Those of us who follow the rape phenomenon closely know that this is stardust feminist wishfulness. Certainly, sometimes the rapist does fit the image of the "undeservedly privileged" male who figures so prominently in the feminist metanarrative. Those instances make for compelling Lifetime movies, I am sure, but in the real world, they are far from the norm.
The vast majority of rape offenders come from lower socioeconomic classes and are under-educated, under-employed, and under-skilled. See, among many others, Thornhill and Palmer, A Natural History of Rape: Biological Bases of Sexual Coercion; Batten, Sexual Strategies: How Females Choose Their Mates. In Against our Wills, Susan Brownmiller demonstrated that disadvantaged blacks comprise a greatly disproportionate percentage of rapists.
So why don't we hear about, much less focus on, this socioeconomic aspect to rape? For the answer to that question, you need to follow the money. For the past thirty years, the sexual grievance industry has learned that their shtick pays best on our college campuses, where there is a decided shortage of socioeconomically disadvantaged young men but plenty of tuition and tax money to spread around on progressive causes. So they man underused but resource-draining rape crisis centers, they put on seminars to shame freshmen males for having penises, and they insist in a thousand ways that our college campuses are cisterns of predatory male sexual violence even though they aren't. It's "The Music Man" all over, and only Professor Harold Hill can save River City from the terrible trouble that Professor Harold Hill has concocted out of whole cloth.
The fact is, every social pathology known to mankind, including rape, is far more prevalent in the inner city than on the typical college campus.
But there's another reason the folks who are supposed to do something about rape ignore the elephant in the room, the socioeconomic aspect to rape: the underlying problem doesn't fit their official narrative. You see, there is an unmistakable correlation between the absence of fathers from inner city homes and the prevalence of every social pathology that affects inner city kids, including rape.
It turns out that when it comes to rape, "masculinity" isn't the problem at all. The problem is the absence of male role models from young men's lives. We've removed male role models from the lives of our inner city sons, then when those boys act up, we have the audacity to blame it on “patriarchy.”
You want to greatly reduce rape -- and every other social pathology known to modern society? Then give inner city families incentives to be together. Get fathers back in the lives of their kids.
My guess is that the sexual grievance industry won't ever address the real issue. They'd prefer to keep convincing impressionable young white college women that they should fear their male classmates. And they'd prefer to keep convincing young college men who are very unlikely ever to rape to strut around in heels to help "raise awareness" about a problem that, truth be told, isn't much of a problem at all.

This is one of your all time best.
This is one of the best articles you ever wrote.
Of course, the feminists will never even consider this, because their other war against families will take precedence over their war against "rape culture".
There's no money in claiming the poor and desperate and downtrodden commit the crimes. In fact, they cannot, because then someone, somewhere, might feel bad for the rapist.
Remember the William and Mary case, where a girl came to a party with a man, was making out with him, slept with another guy, then accused the first one of rape? Even after the DA refused to prosecute (and that's saying something), the school suspended him until she finished her degree.
That got a lot of press. So did the rape accusation of a girl that provided her boyfriend with a condom, then accused him of rape for that romp.
Then, according to Heather MacDonald: In November 2005, a William and Mary student woke up in the middle of the night with a knife at her throat. A 23-year-old stranger with a prior conviction for peeping at her apartment complex had broken into her apartment; he raped her, threatened her roommate at knifepoint, and left with two stolen cell phones and cash. The rapist was caught, convicted, and sentenced to 57 years in prison.
The first "rape" generated a TON of publicity. The last one? Pretty much nothing.
Yet another proof feminists don't care about rape or rape victims.
Zarko, excellent analogy. The feminists who dominate the public discourse about rape treat rape not as a crime but as a tool to "prove" female oppression. The Duke boys were sent to them by central casting, it seemed. They had all the markings of privilege. The only "problem" was, they were innocent.
Fantastic article. I agree with zarko that this article is one of the best!
IMHO, the sexual grevience industry working with their sisters the radical feminists keep targeting campuses to also simply get the attention for the Ms.-Information they want to keep spreading. It goes beyond following the money and includes the ongoing demonizing of the males (especially white males) along with demanding more special-class programs for the female gender at the expense of males.
Thanks, Atlas. Yes, rape is used to further insidious ends. It is as maddening as it is dishonest.
Mike Adams tells a story about a feminist in one of his classes: a "young criminology student wrote a policy paper proposing the death penalty for second degree rape. I criticized the student - reminding her that the Coker and Kennedy (no, not Teddy) Supreme Court decisions do not allow executions for rape. But the student got a different reaction from a feminist faculty member who simply said 'Good. We need more angry feminists.'” http://townhall.com/columnists/mikeadams/2011/03/28/resentment_studies/page/2
Archivist,
Feminists consider rape a crime that deserves a punishment more severe than the crimes of assault and murder. Even early women's movement (1800/1900s) leaders called for the execution of men who rape. Rape arrests and legal convictions based on their absurd standards.
BTW, congratulations to the FRS as AVfM pointed out the Bangor Daily News mentioned how the actions the other week regarding Keller are making headway.
"Several websites and blogs encourage supporters of Filler’s cause to contact the media and state officials about Filler’s situation and Kellett’s handling of the case. One of the sites is called “A Voice for Men” while another is called “Anti Misandry — Curing Feminist Indoctrination.” Other such websites include or are maintained by National Coalition For Men, Fillerfund.com, and ".
Thanks, Atlas. It's about time a mainstream media outlet actually mentioned us as opposed to calling us for help on a story.
Archivest,
You're welcome. I had intended the actual mentioning of FRS be included in the post but it was cut-off.
Regarding the Bangor Daily News:
"Other such websites include or are maintained by... and The False Rape Society."
There you go.
atlas,
Would you have a link to that?
Thanks

In other words, rapists are just common criminals. Men who do not routinely break the law very rarely commit rape.
Contrary to the feminist anti-male, anti-family narrative, the best thing that could happen to our inner cities would be for patriarchal family structures to return. That is the only way to keep young boys and girls out of trouble.
After fifty years of lunacy we need to realize that father really does know best!
OT- Oh come on -- nothing about Crystal Mangum yet? She just stabbed her boyfriend and took his cash!
This piece of filth is the Queen of False Rape Accusers, and we should devote considerable space to laughing at her and her pathetic supporters.
"They'd prefer to keep convincing impressionable young white college women that they should fear their male classmates."
This is and always has been a 'separation' tactic.
One of their goals is separation of the sexes.
Anon 12:57,
Why? Her current situation has nothing to do with the False allegation. She's a slimebag criminal.... we've known that for a while now. Don't know what else needs to be said?
George Will once observed about modern art that "art is what ever the artist produces, and and artist is anyone who claims to be". So it goes with rape- rape is whatever the "victim" says it is, and a "victim" is anyone who claims to be.
"The vast majority of rape offenders come from lower socioeconomic classes and are under-educated, under-employed, and under-skilled."
Unfortunately, false-rape claims married to feminist driven laws have put many innocent men into prison for rapes they did not commit.
Otherwise, it would be something to see stats regarding actual rapists comparing those who grew up with a father in their lives and/or a two parent family vs. being raised by a single mother. These days, such stats are probably more misleading than ever.
I agree, this is one of yer finest pieces!!
This is an important topic, because whenever the subject of street harassment and other forms of male sex misconduct arises, no one seems to want to mention that it's mostly done by lower class black young men. Yet feminists paint all men with it. My guess is that few men do this who've had a father living with him. This isn't "toxic masculinity," it's the kind of masculinity that occurs when a boy is raised by a single woman.
Incredibly important point, Anon. This is not to malign the inner city -- heaven knows, it's maligned enough as it is. It is merely to point out that the rape agenda has diverted attention from the real issue. The real issue isn't women; it's race and class. The real issue isn't discrimination any more; it's about a culture of dependency and hopelessness -- a third world living inside the most privileged nation in the history of the world.
That's the real issue, but the feminist loons don't want you to notice that.

What needs to be said is obvious: that Mangum has been enabled repeatedly by misandrist tools, and that she has been committing crimes against men her entire life, and that if given the opportunity she will commit murder, if that is what is necessary for her to keep the spotlight on her rancid head.
We need to make an example of her, in terms of propaganda. She is the poster child for prosecuting false rape accusers as harshly as possible!

I agree completely. Mangum is a vile criminal and should be metaphorically pilloried over and over, and you technically could because she has offended over and over.
This site focuses mainly on false rape accusations, the authors are hard-working men, they can't be expected to have the time to cover this important work. I suggest that a person with your passion should personally create a blog-they are free- and address this topic on a daily or weekly basis to keep up the focus on this evil person. I would personally visit such a site often.
Lend your voice directly to the MRM. We need more activists, more people with initiative, and you sound like you fit the bill.
This piece caught me in the middle of writing something, so I had to scrap it and start start again.. lol

I have to agree with the sentiment that this is among your finest works.
That said, I disagree with the notion that formal education serves as the main vanguard (granted, it may and likely does have some moderating effect, if only in the expression) against sociopathic behavior - I'd say upbringing has far more to do with such behavior than any amount of schooling.
Very entertaining read; as always, thank you for posting.
