Woman charged with mischief after assault claim

Waterloo Regional police have charged a woman with mischief after she allegedly made a false report about a sexual assault.

Police say an investigation into the alleged sex offences began on Feb. 16 after a woman reported that while walking her dog in Kitchener she was assaulted by three males.

An investigation into the circumstances led police to determine that the incident had not occurred and the victim had provided incorrect information.

The 23-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with public mischief.

Police are reminding the public about the drain on valuable resources caused by false reports.

Ah yes.. note the wording; "An investigation into the circumstances led police to determine that the incident had not occurred and the victim had provided incorrect information."

Incorrect information? Uh, no. She lied. She made it up.

Notice that she is still referred to as the "victim"

TMOTS - "Incorrect information? Uh, no. She lied. She made it up."

Soft-peddling the stories the way both police PIO's and the press do is what continues to provide a "loop-hole" for that "well, something must have happened to her" rationalization that feminist so frequently engage in regarding such stories (I'm reminded of one Mag.G. having done so recently).

That's why I like to see the motivations behind the FRA exposed to the public. When they are informed of the reason why, they more easily accept that it was a straight up fabrication, not some "incorrect information" from a woman who'd suffered some sort of "trauma", and simply conflated her real victimization with some imagined experience.
