Under no scenario, no matter how how the numbers are twisted, pounded, and contorted, can this one-in-five figure (or is it one-in-three? Or one-in-four? Or one-in-six? Or one-in-seven? Or one-in-four before Thanksgiving of Freshman year -- we've seen every manifestation of this "one-in" canard) be reconciled with the alleged rate of undrerreporting these same women's groups posit.
Really, you say? That's correct. We've previously showed that, using their own (inflated) 90 percent underreporting figure (note: even RAINN says its only 60 percent) to prove beyond any question that it's not one-in-five, but more like One-in-One-Thousand-Eight-Hundred-Seventy-Seven. See here. That number was obtained using a large urban campus as a laboratory. You can do similar math for almost any college -- just find the number of reported sexual assaults for that college, figure out the number that "should" have been reported if there were no underreporting, and I promise you that the chasm between their own number of sexual assaults that should have been be reported and their "one-in-whatever" canard will be of jaw dropping, Biblical proportions.
If the "one-in-five" figure were correct, our college campuses would be more dangerous places than the Tadmor Prison in Syria, where the bloodthirsty guards butcher inmates with axes for the fun of it. And, there would be something terribly, terribly wrong with the male gender.
Since women's groups can't even mount an internally consistent argument about the prevalence of rape -- their "one-in-whatever" number and their underreporting stats produce numbers that aren't just vastly different but are in different universes -- how is it that they have any credibility at all?

Look who's behind it, our Vice-Mangina Joe Biden.
Our feminist-in-chief is also behind it.
Hey, the one-in-whatever FEELS right to these people, so end of discussion.
My question is, why do we vote for these buffoons?
How do we fight stuff like this?
Can we write a letter to somebody?
I am so sick of hearing about garbage like this.
I really wish that spreading male-hating propaganda that installs fear in women would stop.
Any suggestions?
"Gender-Raunch journalism" comin straight from the white house.
Some bearded boogey-man hiding in a Pakistani mountain cave is far less of a dangerous threat to western men than are the rulers of western countries and their storm-trooper thugs acting on behalf of the feminists.
With the internet, "gender-Raunch journalists" no longer have a monopoly on what "construction" gets fed to the public.
Just give it time, and free communication over the internet will liberate folks from the tyranny of those media sources that have had a monopoly for decades, and those that have abused these monopolies.
Man-hating liars never quit.
Im actually quite stunned tonight ,I mentioned on here last week the brittish tv show hollyoaks running a rape storyline based round the idea of consent and post sex regret , I am going to actually have to write something on my own blog about the whole thing but i had to bring it up because they used a jury who made the decision instead of the story writers and the character tonight was shown as innocent , This was a massive thing because this is mainstream brittish television showing a story that is very real and importantly showing that men can be innocent .
OT- Scott "Dilbert" Adams makes fun of MRAs... and feminists perceive it as an attack on them! http://www.dilbert.com/blog/
HAHAHAHA!
http://men-factor.blogspot.com/2011/03/white-house-announces-plans-to-rape.html
They spew out this Misandry and at the same time, the feminists expect that "Men Can Stop Rape". Why should I, as a male in this society, act on behalf of any female when I am already demonized as a potential rapist? A woman I know, after reading about a gang-rape in this area (buffalo, NY), stated she would be sure to raise her sons to "respect women". I thought it insulting that a 7 and 9year old were suddenly assumed to be potential rapists unless persuaded against it.
With all due respect, I think you've confused SEXUAL ASSAULT with rape.
No, I don't think it's outrageous to think that one in five, hell one in two college women might be the victim of a slap on the ass by a drunken fratboy or a catcall somewhere during their 4 years of what is basically for many of them an endless alcohol filled party.
It's rape that's the big lie, for there is a tremendous difference between a sexual assault (said category can include many things under the sun) and a rape.
So assuming they said "sexual assault" they might be right, but who wants to bet with me it won't be twisted into rape in any case?
Clarence
Clarence:
A slap on the ass is not a sexual assault.
A catcall sure as hell is not a sexual assault.
You're the one who's confused.
Clarence, sexual assault is a broad term in that state statutes interpret it differently but it is almost everywhere a real assault --touching.
The college stats are about forcible sexual offences: touching, but not necessarily penile penetration. The absence of consent is the sine qua non. Underreporting stats are also based on alleged sexual assaults.
So, no, I understand the difference between rape and sexual assault. I understand how those people use the term.
catcall somewhere during their 4 years of what is basically for many of them an endless alcohol filled party.
How is a catcall a sexual assault? Are you serious?
Hell, I had an american woman yell at me (with very vulgar terms) for being Serbian because her... uncle?... died attacking my homeland.
Was I sexually assaulted?
Brainteaser:
How's that possible with the current ,yet widening, "gender" ratio imbalance of 1 man for every 5 women on university/college campuses that 20% of men can rape 80% of the women?
-NetProfitParticipation
We've had several stories in the news here, such as...
supermarket shelf fillers arranging spices labels and other product to spell profane words.
police giving evidence in court embedding song titles and lyrics in their spoken evidence.
maybe these assholes have so much contempt for the people that they are just doing it for shits and giggle and a bet on a bottle of bourbon...
"I'll bet a quart of wild turkey I can get obama to say 'one in ten women are birth raped even day in hospitals in the USA'"
Ok, Archivist:
What do you mean by you understand "How these people use the term"?
You see, I've read Koss and several other studies. Usually they talk about rape. Indeed, when one hears "sexual assault" I'm relatively sure many uneducated people think they heard "rape". Sexual assault does not of course merely mean "rape".
Then there's a retarded anon telling me that butt unwanted butt slapping isn't sexual assault. As the resident lawyer I'm sure you can tell him or her different, I'd sure hate to think my sexual harrasment training was all to the wrong.
In short, my argument is they may very well be CORRECT if they were using the term sexual assault because that term is very very very wide these days.
Is it your argument that most girls..nay the vast majority of girls..heck the vast majority of drunken college sorority girls..go through four years without a single unwanted sexual touch or grab?
Because while I easily believe that even sorority sluts don't often get RAYped, I find it hard to believe they are never bothered by things that would fall under our rather ridiculously overbroad sexual assault laws.
Clarence
Why is everybody going into hysterics over the 1 in 5 stat.
Guys, Clarence even stated that sexual assault can mean practically anything. He's not having a dig at us.
"Then there's a retarded anon telling me that butt unwanted butt slapping isn't sexual assault."
I'm a different anon, but that ISN'T sexual assault.
Unwanted attention of a POSSIBLY sexual nature (some guys slap EVERYBODY ON THE ASS, so maybe there isn't even a sexual component sometimes) perhaps, but it's certainly a far cry from grabbing a chick and forcing your fingers up her snatch while she screams "no".
THAT would be assault.
I don't call butt-slapping anything but juvenile high-jinks and general chicanery.
And as far as your sexual harassment training goes, I call that brainwashing, indoctrination into the cult of the privileged princess.
Most of the men I know don't believe they have any specific "rights" regarding bodily integrity. People punch and kick and rob or sometimes murder you and that's just what happens, you live (or die) with it or you kick their ass first.
The idea that someone would call having your ass slapped "assault" is frankly bewildering to me. I've had groups of people randomly jump out of their car and beat the shit out of me because they didn't like the way I looked at them.
If you have ever been ACTUALLY assaulted, you realize that shit like "unwanted (possibly) sexual attention" isn't even in the same ballpark. It's not even in the same zipcode as the ballpark. It's like comparing a skin rash to the bubonic plague.
The American gender-raunch community "Empower" themselves by "constructing" that all the crimes against humanity were done by heterosexual males.
I understand what Clarence is saying here.....
But I reckon that the main point is that The feminist-in-Chief and his 'assaulted by his sister' neophyte have deemed that catcalls and playful butt-slaps are of National Importance !!
And that being so ridiculous, that most people hear RAYPE instead ...
Anon at 8:41: I understand what Clarence is saying, too. But it doesn't square with women's groups' own arguments. They, too, speak in terms of "sexual assaults" -- both for their "one-in-whatever" canard and their underreporting stat. The point is, the two are irreconcilable by vast, gargantuan margins. If they are so irreconcilable, how on earth do they have ANY credibility?
Well:
After reading the comments in response to my comment I did more research and googled "Women don't report rape".
I got almost 55 million hits.
I googled "Women don't report sexual assault" and got roughly 11 million hits.
Clearly, from that alone the big feminist complaint is lack of report of rape.
But I drilled down even farther. I added AND rape to my search for sexual assault.
I got around 11 million hits again, often some of the same hits that came up from my second search, though of course I couldn't test all 11 million.
But it seems that even in the vast majority of places on the web that care about "sexual assault" rape is mentioned in some way.
Here's an example:http://www.newbeginningsnh.org/html/dv_sa.html
I think it's quite obvious that even places and blogs where the complaint is "sexual assault" rape is what is really on the brain. It certainly matches pretty much any online discussion of this I've seen on Alas, Shakesville, Feministe, or Feministing. While they sometimes complain about sexual assault in general, more often the threads either implicitly talk about underreportng of rape or evolve into a discussion of that.
But when it comes to "minor" sexual stuff such as some drunk dude feeling up y our breasts or a slap on the butt, or a single unwanted butt squeeze when dancing or the like, yeah, I don't find it hard to believe that the vast majority of women wouldn't report. Unlike pretty much anything involving penetration or violence against women (From shoves to punches), a buttslap allegation is unlikely to get a guy kicked out, and while the "sisterhood" can be counted on to support you in taking back the night and taking out all but the most popular (sexual popularity influences who females tend to accuse)jocks or nerdboys, many women will not support you running to the admin for every little sexual slight. Whatever one might think of our fucked up sexual culture of victimhood and mixtures of patriarchy and feminism, at least most college girls aren't THAT crazy.
I've expressed tons of skepticism in the past both on this blog and in the Radical Middle , Pierce, about the amount of claimed under-reporting of rapes. I'm skeptical of the more modern concept and esp feminist definition of sexual assault, but I'm less skeptical about claims it is vastly under-reported, simply because so many relatively harmless things fall under that rubric. I'm no fan of the way the current legal system treats domestic violence and rape: conflating a shove with a brutal beatdown, conflating mutual drunken sex with a brutal stranger rape, but for now, that's the way things are. I'm actually happy many "sexual assaults" are unreported bcause , quite frankly, in a sane world, many wouldn't be legal issues at all.

By the way, was just reading this:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/03/110330101242.htm
Quoted:"For women, sexual harassment was distressing when they saw it as frightening, but not when they saw it as bothersome. "We were surprised by this finding," Settles said. "We thought women would be negatively impacted if they saw their harassment as frightening or bothersome."
For men, sexual harassment was distressing when they saw it as either frightening or bothersome, she said.
"People tend to underestimate the impact of sexual harassment on men," Settles said. She added that men "typically haven't had a lifetime of experiences dealing with sexual harassment and may not know how to deal with it when it happens to them."
Settles said the study does not suggest sexual harassment is less distressing for women than men."
As to the last paragraph and I'm being ironic - oh, of COURSE not.
Clarence
Clarence, don't get me wrong, I know you are an astute reader of this blog whose opinions I never dismiss out of hand.
don't forget. The one in one thousand whatever number includes false rapes, regret rapes, drunk date rapes and all kind of rapes that are not forcible rapes.
So it is probably much much lower.
