Teen cautioned for false sexual assault claim

A teenager has been cautioned after falsely claiming she was sexually assaulted in Church Road, Crowthorne, in November last year.

During the early hours of Saturday, November 6, police received a call from the 19-year-old woman who claimed she had been sexually assaulted near St John’s Church while walking home.

But an investigation did not find evidence to substantiate the claim and the woman was cautioned for wasting police time on Friday, February 5.

Chief Inspector Simon Bowden, police commander for Bracknell, said: “Police usually get to the bottom of false reports and anyone who makes a false report of a crime may ultimately get themselves a criminal record.”
