Bandar Seri Begawan - The Indonesian woman who cut a man's private part out of jealousy and then lied to the police stating that her action was fuelled due to being raped was sentenced to one-month imprisonment by the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon.
Kusnul Khotimah Muanam, 36, was brought to court on November 20, 2010 where she had pleaded guilty to the offence under Section 182 of the Penal Code for giving false information to the police.
Senior Magistrate Dk Masni binti Pg Bahar ruled that there would not be leniency for the defendant as the victim "had to go through hardship" due to the false report.
Her actions, the Senior Magistrate said, "do not warrant a fine".
The defendant was ordered to serve her sentence as of yesterday, December 2, 2010.
According to official court documents, the defendant made a report at the Central Police Station on January 25, 2008 stating that she had been forcefully undressed and raped by a man named Monir Hossain Abdul Goni at about 3am or 4 am the same day inside her bedroom at No 562, Kg Sg Besar, Jalan Kota Batu.
She reported that as a result of the rape, she took a knife and cut the man's private part and the man fled out of the room.
The defendant's statements were then recorded at the Women and Children Abuse Investigation Unit, which led to further investigations ofAbdul Goni, his employer and his colleague.
The immigration and labour departments also took part in the investigation with regards to their stay in Brunei.
Police were also deployed at the scene to collect exhibits, take photos and make sketch plans of the alleged rape.
As the investigation continued, Kusnul confessed that she had made a false report on the rape incident and that she actually cut Abdul Goni's private part out of jealousy.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Nurjauinah Haji Kula appeared for the prosecution.
