Because false rape accusations are so very funny

Stumbled across this old "Onion" post: http://www.theonion.com/articles/we-falsely-accuse-shia-lebeouf-of-statutory-rape,10394/

So is rape itself.

The Onion is an equal-opportunity offender, like all good humor peddlers.

The Onion Movie actually made quite a "risque" remark about rape.

If you are aware of those "Murder Dinner Parties" - The Onion Movie had a sketch in it - where it was a "Rape Dinner Party".

The CD and costumes all centered around a fictional rape - and the guests had to sit around and figure out who committed the rape.

One woman at the part got offended and left.

Another woman said, "Well, you wouldn't be offended by a fictional murder - why would you be offended by game revolving around a lesser crime where nobody actually loses their life?"

Risque yes - but - things that make you go hmmm....

In fact, the whole Onion Movie had some excellent things in it.

I'm gonna go blog about it.

ScareCrow: excellent point.

There are those who believe rape can be worse than murder?

Some things are no laughing matter, but nearly everything can be funny. I'm not offended by this for a couple of reasons. First, it calls attention to the problem of false rape accusations. Second, it clearly identifies the accusation as false. Had they simply accused Shia LeBouf of rape, it would be offensive. But by clearly denoting the accusations as false, they bring to light in a humorous manner that this is a problem that does exist.
