A woman is to appear before court accused of making a false report of rape.
Keeley Horrock, 19, of Grant Street, Burnley, Lancashire, has been charged with perverting the course of justice and is due to appear before Rochdale magistrates court on Wednesday November 10.
The charges relate to an incident on January 3 when a woman called police to report she had been raped in Rochdale.

"perverting the course of justice"
She should be charged with 'perverting the course of justice' and falsifying a rape, two SEPARATE charges.
She should go to prison for years and have to register as a sex offender.

I take it that you're not familiar with the UK's "Perverting the Course of Justice" statute?
It's a felony level charge, which has lead to many false accusers doing actually jail time.
On the other hand, backwards and twisted as it seems to all sane people, falsifying a rape (making a false report to police) is merely a misdemeanor in most jurisdictions – which, for a woman who was a first time offender, would typically mean only having to do community service and perhaps pay a small fine to cover court costs.
This is why it is so often argued here that the US needs to adopt a similar statute which could be applied to those making FRA’s. It’s a very good law. Read more:

From that article linked:
”A Tilehurst woman cried rape twice after agreeing to have sex on both occasions, a court heard.
Emma Blunden, 21, denies two counts of perverting the course of justice after an alleged incident in February this year, and another in July 2008.”
And,
” Mr Acheson said: “From the start aspects of her behaviour caused concern. She was seemingly untroubled by what had happened.
But her peculiar conduct went further than that and one officer dealing with her complaint thought she was making observations that were particularly towards him – she was very keen to get the officer’s phone number.”
The court heard police conducted inquiries with other people who had been at the house party who said Blunden had been flirting with one of the men and that when she had gone into the bathroom she was heard giggling: “Who’s going to go first then?”
Following her arrest for perverting the course of justice in May, this year, Blunden was also arrested for a second charge relating to an allegation in July 2008 when she said she had been raped by a man living in the same hostel as her in Newbury.
Mr Acheson said she had been boasting about having sex with the man after the incident and that she sent a text to him after the accusation apologising for getting him arrested. In both cases the alleged attackers were arrested but no charges were brought.”
Oh, how nice. She apologized. Isn’t that swell?
I Read your blog comments you wrote about rape. A "lie-detector" test to help uncover false allegations of rape is being developed by the police and criminologists.
A "lie-detector" test to help uncover false allegations of rape is being developed by the police and criminologists.
Between 10 and 41 per cent of allegations of rape are made up by the "victim", according to previous research. In the new test, a claimant's statement is analysed and points are given from a list of set clues - people who have made up a rape allegation get a low score, while genuine complaints get a high score.
