Woman claiming rape charged with making false report

OCALA - An 18-year-old woman who was angry at her mother for taking away her credit card and cell phone, and who told deputies she was raped, was charged with making a false report.

According to officials, Reina Wilson went to a Sheriff’s Office substation Tuesday and told a deputy a man had sexually assaulted her in a parking lot off County Road 326.

Wilson’s mother and sister had been looking for her and had reported her missing to the Gainesville and Ocala Police Departments.

Detective Thomas Tingue went to the location Wilson described and reviewed surveillance video for the previous day. He did not see Wilson on the video.

The woman also claimed she applied for a job at the location, but the detective could not find any such record.

Wilson later told Tingue she was angry at her mother for taking away her credit card and cell phone. She said she argued with her mother and went to Flemington to visit her grandmother. From there, she said, she went to Gainesville and later stopped at a hotel. She told the detective she was not molested.

She was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail.
