Hughsonville woman charged with making false rape claim

HUGHSONVILLE — A 22-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday for falsely reporting that she was raped in her ground floor apartment last week, according to State Police.

The woman contacted police on Sept. 2., claiming that she was sexually assaulted by a masked man, dressed all in black, who broke into her apartment on Route 9D in the early hours that day, said police.

The woman provided police with a detailed description of her alleged attacker. A brief on the attack appeared in the Journal on Sept. 3.

Police said within days of reporting the incident, the woman admitted that she fabricated the story.

The Hughsonville woman was charged with third degree false reporting of an incident and making a punishable false written statement, both misdemeanors. She was issued a ticket to appear in Town of Wappinger Court at a later date.

The Journal does typically print the names of individuals charged with misdemeanors.

"Police said within days of reporting the incident, the woman admitted that she fabricated the story."

The story is sparse on details, including what it was that made her confess. It was likely that the police could find no evidence to back up her story, and began "pressing" her.

"The Hughsonville woman was charged with third degree false reporting of an incident and making a punishable false written statement, both misdemeanors."

Again with the misdemeanor limitations on charging. There is a serious need for felony level charges, given the potential harms that could result from an innocent man being identified as a suspect in such a case.

Still, no innocent men were arrested, and the liar was quickly outed. Another case in which the police deserve Kudos.

You guy's need to read this one. It's a good example of just how frivolous a reason some women have for FRA's. It's hard to know, but I'd guess such plots are not that uncommon any more.

By all appearances, the woman was having sex on the side (quite a bit of it, given the drawer full of condoms), but, as soon as she even though her boyfriend might have cheated on her, she sought to set him up for rape charges, to steal his expensive vehicles (and sell them), and she stole other expensive items from him.

All while continuing to have a sexual relationship with him, after going to the police to make up a story about him drugging and raping her.

She'd have gladly seen him go to prison, based on a lie, while stealing from him - all because she didn't like him cheating on her, the way she seems to have been cheating on him.

From the comments section in the linked story above, one of the commentators seems to come to the same conclusion that I did (without further details), that this was probably just another "FRA as cover-up" (seems like it a daily occurrence, anymore)

From one, Jaknthebox:

"Well, at least she didnt mess up some guy's life and say it was a specific person. She just made it out to be some random stranger. She probably cheated on her boyfriend and had to make up some BS."

Ah, a link to another account, which names her - and also seems to back up my suggestion that the police pressured her into confessing:

Woman arrested for falsely reporting rape

"State Police at Wappinger said Jovanna Sosa, 22, of 2358 Route 9D falsely reported the attack. She told police that during the early hours of September 2, she had been sexually assaulted by a stranger in her apartment.

During continued investigation by State Police, Sosa admitted the incident didn’t occur and that she had fabricated the story."

Women lie about rape all the time. It is seen as empowerment and a right.

The separatist movement started by feminists decades ago is working.

Hey wait a minute, I thought women and girls would never, ever, ever, lie about rape???

A young woman enrolls in college and eventually comes across this feminist myth....

"Rape is a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear."

Then she thinks to herself, "Okay, I'll show them." And she thinks....

"FALSE RAPE is a conscious process of intimidation by which all women keep all men in a state of fear."

Then she sighs and thinks, "There, now were even, now there's justice"

Many young women of today believe that falsifying a rape is an entitlement, empowerment, justice and a right.

This twisted thinking has got to stop.

Support making false rape a felony.

Many false rape accusers....are false rape accusers....because they know they can.

Stop their twisted thinking!

Not charging these women and letting them retain their anonymity is injustice!

Charging women with 'filing a false police report' is not enough!

Stop chivalrous people in power!

Vote for politicians that will support making false rape a felony!

You can count on Law Enforcement to.

1. Have you arrested with little or no evidence.
2. To add as many charges as possible so that you wont get out on bail.
3. They will use trickery to get you to confess.
4. Disregard or ignore exculpatory evidence.
5. They will give thousands of dollars to the False Rape accuser to keep them from changing there story.
6. Make your name public for all the world to see, while your False Rape accuser gets a free pass.
7. District Attorneys who only care about rape numbers, and statistics.
8. The DA will never admit maleficence.
9. Prosecutors are media seeking, revenue generating industrialist.

The land of the free it is not, but rather the land of the 3 million imprisoned. The US has 5% of the worlds population but has 25% of the world prison population.

Could you imagine a prosecutor handing over exculpatory evidence to the defense, which by the way the law prescribes. Never going to happen Slwerner.

In a criminal prosecution is not that it shall win a case, but that justice shall be done.

Apparently you failed to read the story, eh?

While what you say may be true in some cases, not one thing you list is always the case, let alone the norm. The many stories posted here give lie to your thesis. But, then again, what can one really expect from some one who has proclaimed that the women responsible for making FRA's are "not the problem"? [hint: credibility plunges to zero]

Still, I was thinking, “where have I heard this same sort of absolutist thinking before?”

The it dawned on me.

Here’s a few choice one in the same logical mold:

The big one: Some men, at some times, have committed rape; therefore all men are potential rapists.

And, following from that: since some men might derive some benefit from women being raped; then, all men, as a class, use rape to keep women down, and all men, as a class, benefit from doing so.

How about: Since some black men have, at some times, committed crimes; then all black men are (potentially) violent criminals.

Or: Since some men, at some times, have abducted and molested children; therefore all men seem interacting with children must be viewed with suspicion – and even a father photographing his own children warrants a call to police.

We could also suggest that since some priest sexually abused boys, then they all do; and, since some school teachers also do, then they must also all do it.

Yes, it’s that inane.

But, then again, having a simple “one size fit’s all situations” answer does spare the intellectually lazy from having to put in any effort to think about the different facts of different cases.

Hey, how about for simplicities sake, and to have an intellectually empty slogan that will resonate with the simple and intellectually lazy; how about we distill your two main points – ”the women are not to blame” & ”no one in LE is seeking the truth” down into one cohesive statement: ”There are no criminals but those who wear badges”? {that is your belief, is it not?]

Law enforcement around the world press charges against women who falsely accuse an innocent man of rape. It is a perversion of the American (and their satellite nations)law enforcement community to not charge. To enable women to lie about rape and lie about domestic violence is to further overall societal violence; for children now learn unrestrained violence from their mothers. Fostering lies and violence allows American law enforcement communities to bloat their budgets, and the elevated levels of chaos and violence feed the flood of American lawyers looking to "feed by the hour" off the chaos, perversion, and violence.
85% of repeat violent offenders in American jails come from homes with no fathers or male role models to guide them. Perverts feed off the perpetual violence of the American matriarchal underclass.

Those that speak the truth get lynched by the feminist lynch mob.

Arod99k,

1. There is some truth there. It has happened, but it isn't prevalent.

2. Again, some truth.

3. True, as it has happened, and we know it.

4. True

5. False. LE doesn't do this. They are typically Government entities who are NOT LE. If you are claiming that LE bribe people to stick to their stories, That's a pretty heavy charge, and I want the proof for that. Please provide a link. Thanks.

6. False. If it were true, this site wouldn't exist.

7. Again, a grain of truth, but at this point, how many false accusers are we seeing prosecuted?

8. They are lawyers. They know better than to confess. It would be career ending (Look at Nifong - lost his license, even though I don't think that was enough).

9. Media seeking, yes, as most have higher political aspirations.

But for this, and each of your assertions about monetary gain, Would you please provide a bit of proof? A link or two should do the trick.

I notice one of your latest posts, in another thread, you mention a friend, so I get that you, like Scott, are emotionally invested in the topic. But for #5 above, especially, unless you have proof that LE is bribing people to stick to their claims, I would ask that such claims not be made on this site.

Pierce has done a lot to make this site a credible resource, and forum for those who are/have been falsely accused. Please don't drag that reputation down, with wild assertions. If you have the proof, that such things are happening, then by all means, share that with us. But if not, please don't make that type of claim here.

Thank you.
