Police say report of sexual assault was unfounded

McMinnville police have cited a 22-year-old woman with filing a false report after she claimed she was sexually assaulted in the Cozine area.

Kendra Vandecoevering of 865 13th Court, Lafayette, said a stranger accosted her at knife point, held her overnight and raped her. She later admitted the incident didn't happen, police said.

A police department spokesman said his office will be seeking restitution for expenses involved investigating the false report.

[FRS COMMENT] - Gee, restitution for the false report. What a great deterrent.

Another stranger kidnap/rape turns out to be a hoax...so, as I sometimes do, I decided to search the local news archives to see if there were other recent reports of rapes (this site had a real nice search, which allows not only topic, but date range as well).

Well, Just two items came up for all of 2010. The earlier account of this story, which turned out to be false, and one about a DNA match for two earlier kidnap/rapes (2007 & 2009).

Once again, my theory of there being as many falsified kidnap-rapes as real ones within a locale and recent time range seems to hold.

"DNA data identifies suspect in two Portland rapes

PORTLAND - Police say a routine DNA test last year on a man convicted of a drug charge identified him as a suspect in two rapes in southwest Portland.

Twenty-one-year-old Karon Roy Jones of Portland is accused of attacking a woman in November of 2007 in her car and another woman in February of 2009 as she was walking near an apartment complex."

Rape report false

By PAUL DAQUILANTE

Of the News-Register

A Lafayette woman, who reported to McMinnville police Saturday morning that she was kidnapped, raped and then held at knifepoint for about seven hours, later admitted she fabricated the story.

She was identified as Kendra Adwana Vandecoevering, 22, of 865 13th Court. She was charged with one count of initiating a false police report, a Class C misdemeanor, and cited to appear in court. She was not taken into custody.

"The McMinnville Police Department will be seeking restitution for the expenses involved in investigating this false report," Capt. Dennis Marks said.

Vandecoevering reported the incident to police about 7:30 a.m. Saturday. The location where officers responded was the old Columbus Elementary School site across South Baker Street from Walgreens.

Marks said five or six members of the department investigated what turned out to be a bogus report. He said they probably worked a total of about 30 hours, some of which was overtime, after first responding to the area.

Yamhill County sheriff's reserve volunteers also responded to assist McMinnville police, in part, with containment of the scene. Volunteers were Mike Brandt, Jeff Breland, Bruce Douglas, Joe Gilmore and Linda Shewchuk.

McMinnville police officer Steve Macartney, who responded to the reported assault, sent an e-mail to Sgt. Brandon Bowdle, who organized the volunteer callout, Sheriff Jack Crabtree and Capt. Ken Summers, thanking them for the sheriff's office support.

"Based upon local staffing restrictions by our local agencies, it is comforting to know that we can easily access each others' resources in our time of need," Macartney wrote. "They (the volunteers) were a great assistance and were an honor to YSCO's progressive citizen volunteer program."

Marks gave this account of the incident:

Vandecoevering reported an unknown male accosted her about 9 p.m. Friday and held her at knifepoint until about 4 a.m. Saturday in the Cozine creekbed near the footpath and bridge off South Baker Street. She said he raped her.

After taking the initial report, and listening to statements from her, officers determined she had provided conflicting information She was interviewed again Monday, at which time she admitted she had not been kidnapped, raped or held at knifepoint by a suspect.

The false report was understandably upsetting to McMinnville police, because as Marks pointed out, detectives currently are investigating the death of 60-year-old Dennis Ross of McMinnville. He was found dead June 19 in his residence, and solving the case is a high priority for the department."

My false rape accusation was also labelled "un-founded".
By redefining what the meaning of is, is, law enforcement communities "manufacture" faulty and inflamatory ??statistics???
When did law enforcement get into the business of "manufacturing" faulty and inflamatory missinformation?? This "manufacturing missinformation" by redefining what the meaning of is, is; is not only a perversion, but is unconstitutional.
