I found this rather incredible. Friday's post, and now this one, both with two year sentences being handed down. Saturday's, 18 months. I would like to think this is the start of seeing false accusers being punished for their crimes.
A WOMAN from Birmingham who falsely accused a man of rape has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Sara Downing, 23, of West Cliff Place, Weoley Castle, made the allegation against the unnamed man last September, leading to his arrest.
It was only after a medical examination that the man was cleared and Downing came clean about the claim in November.
Birmingham Crown Court heard she made the false claim to a friend who convinced Downing to report the incident to the police.
Richard Franck QC, prosecuting, said the accused man was arrested and held for three hours and then bailed.
He remained on bail and under suspicion for three months, during which time his mobile phone and car were confiscated.
“He described it as traumatic,” said Mr Franck. “In a victim impact statement he said his life had been put on hold and his name dragged through the mud.”
Gerrard Cullen QC, defending, said once she admitted the lie she told police in passing she had been raped but could not reveal the identity of the attacker through fear and so gave the false name.
She said she had met the man she accused months before when they were both patients in hospital.
“She was backed into a corner and she gave a false name.” Mr Cullen said. “Once that lie was out of the bag she had to go along with it,” Mr Cullen said. “She offers an unreserved apology to the victim, she is disgusted with herself.”
In mitigation Mr Cullen said at the time she made the allegation Downing was in a distressed state and since then had also lost her father who committed suicide.
Handing Downing a two-year prison sentence and one month for a Bail Act offence, Judge Robert Orme said false rape allegations made real offences harder to prosecute because of the doubt they place in the mind of juries.
“You invented that story without regard for the dreadful consequences that befell him.
“It could have been brought to an end with a word from you.
“It is the gravity of the offence that has made me pass this sentence.”

We won't see REAL justice until FRAs get the same sentence that their hapless victims would have received if convicted. For example, if a rape conviction carries 20 years, then a false accusation for that crime ought to carry 20 years as well. Then and only then will we see real progress...

Obviously you haven't read the entire blog, all the comments, or all of the posts. If you had and thought critically about this issue you would see that there is no prejudice here. There is anger here certainly. Much of the anger is justified, if you read this blog in its entirety and gain a complete understand of the issue and how it affects people, you included. But hatred? No. Name calling? Sometimes. We are imperfect human beings who have faced atrocities at the hands of a feminist society and legal system that is out of balance. This blog exists to enlighten as people many as possible about the issue of false rape claims and the devastating impact it has on the falsely accused. We do not discriminate based on gender because women are falsely accused, too. So, do not misinterpret justifiable anger and name-calling that you see here as prejudice and hatred similar to the KKK or any other fascist hate group. This blog and the people who post and comment here are the farthest thing from the KKK or other such groups. Certainly not everyone here is erudite, eloquent, and diplomatic. But we are not racists or 'genderists.'
We seek to restore equal rights and equal justice as guaranteed by the US Constitution and other similar founding documents in countries around the world.
As a falsely accused man having read and posted comments here for nearly a year, I can say unequivocally that there is no place that is more unbiased and even-handed in regard to the issue of false rape claims. It is one of a handful of such sites that address the issue.
Bottom line: if you don't like what you're reading here, go do something else.
We will continue to support the falsely accused, document the issue, and become a force for change in society and in the legal systems throughout the world that allows the destruction of the lives of (mostly) young men and boys. Take the time to read the meaning behind the words and understand the emotional states of the people writing them. Perhaps then you'll be able to see this blog for what it is: a very good and much needed resource for the falsely accused and their families and loved ones.

I sincerely hope that the theme of all women/feminists are false rape accusers is a misunderstanding of mine. I am sure that this cause, above others, must understand what it's like to be tarred with the same brush. I acknowledge that rape is terribly hard to prove and do believe in a person's right to say 'no' or even imply it without being explicit. I also agree that to be wrongly accused of anything is awful but being accused of something that is hard to prove either way must be crippling, especially given the nature of this horrific crime.
I hope I haven't given the message that I think that false rape isn't serious or life damaging. I do object that feminists and or women in general are the cause or contributors to these injustices.
I agree, I will also get a real id once this case is blown open. Frankly I am afraid for my life in this little town. If "they" knew I was sharing information, it could come back to haunt me.
But this nightmare will be over soon :)

Your ignorance speaks for you and itself. Try learning to be more open-minded and more compassionate.
Women are less likely to be racist activists because women are less divided than men and more focused on their own selfish collective interests.
So if the point was that men must overcome their divisions and unite, I agree. But if the idea is women good / men bad, that's ridiculous.

Not only should the FRA have that sentence imposed upon them ( for the length of their sentence they should spend at least four hours per day, locked in a room with not only real rape victims but also four hours locked in a room with their victim(s) and the victim's family), they should be required to compensate their victim(s).
Oh yes, they should also be required to register as sex offenders wherever they go.

Yes, if you believed that this site has as a theme that ALL women or ALL feminists are false accusers, then you arrived at that thinking by way of a misunderstanding on your own part.
This site doesn't even suggest that all woman are potential false accusers (for the record, just as surely as all men - and women - are potential rapists, all men and women are also potential false accusers), as there is no desire to "smear" anyone based solely on their gender (notice the stark contrast to gender-feminism here).
In fact, this site has also stood-up for women who've been falsely accused, and has denounced false accusations made by men.
Also, do note, that the proprietors of this site have repeatedly taken a strong stance against the crime of rape (a position I share with them).
Rape and false accusations of rape are two separate crimes, linked only by the fact that the reality of the former allows the latter to occur. Both are crimes, in and of themselves, and it is perfectly reasonable to take stances against both, as being against one DOES NOT require that one be FOR the other.
If we can take away the gender issue which so taints the views of so many, it might easier to see this. A good non-gender specific analogy might well be see in the crime of auto theft, and the crime of false car theft claims (for insurance fraud). Similarly, the existence of the former makes the latter possible, and yet both are obviously crimes, and one can easily see that it is entirely rational to be against both crimes.

Women in general do not make false rape accusations. A minority of women (and a minority of men) do this.
Feminists in general also (probably) do not make false rape accusations, but feminists in general have fomented a culture of vengeance against men, they have thoroughly dehumanised men into success/pleasure objects for women to abuse, and they have lobbied successfully for punitive law after punitive law designed to make it easier for any woman with a gripe to completely destroy any man's life they please.
There is a special place in hell for feminists, and I hold them all responsible for FRAs, each and every single one.

Such instances are much rarer, but they do occur, and they are reported here. Either you haven't been reading here long enough, or gone back far enough in the archives; but, there have been several instance of women being falsely accused that have been covered here. Keep looking, keep reading.

This is true. Though I do believe that it's not the accusation IN AND OF ITSELF which is crippling, although it is bad enough; it is the consequences.
We have detailed stories here, for instance, of innocent men being ostracised as 'rapists' by their community, having excrement pushed through their letterboxes, being chased through town with knives, receiving death threats, being sodomised (raped), being whipped, having bleach poured on their cuts and wounds ...
And that's just the ones who didn't go straight to jail. In jail, we have detailed stories about innocent men being served up urine-soaked food, being burned, being beaten to a pulp, being gang-raped multiple times themselves, while officially known to everyone as 'the rapist' as opposed to 'the victim'.
And this goes on and on by the way - for years.
Out of prison? They'll never find decent employment again. They will have to inform their neighbours that they are a 'sex offender' and live with this false stigma forever more.
And how about your own friends and even your own family having doubts about your innocence?
That is the power that women wield over men - the power to make that happen. ALL women have the power to do all this to ALL men.
Try telling me with a straight face that a woman getting raped is WORSE than that.

This would seem silly...if it were not the truth.
