State Police say text messages saying a man who raped two women in the Stanton area earlier this month has struck again, and this time killed his victim, are fake.
Spokesman Corporal Jeff Whitmarsh tells WDEL News two texts that went out last week saying the suspect in abductions and rapes that started in the parking lots of First State Surgery and Sallie Mae had attacked another woman and killed her are "completely false".

Do you see how easy it is to create a rape lie, given the -- hate to use these words -- rape hysteria that permeates our society? All you have to do is SAY it, and people will believe it. And heaven help you if she mentions your name along with the lie, because people will believe that, too.
@Archivist
Why hate the phrase "rape hysteria?" How about "Moral panic" instead? Both describe the induced state in people who believe everything they are told -- those who do not think critically about these issues. Ignorance is bliss. A mind is a terrible thing.
The article seems to allude to the misuse of a text message public address system which got me thinking about the effects of lack of anonymity of the accused.
Without corroboration requirements in (alleged) sexual assault cases and the lengthening and/or elimination of statute of limitations in such cases, what keeps a man who has had his name made public by a rape accusation from being further accused by women who may have never even met him?
"I dated him 9 years ago and he raped me, too" sort of thing.
Will the court accept the additional complaints without scrutiny?
I'm sure additional accusers will soon be able to simply text message the judge @ 1-HER-APE-DME2 with their complaints. Purely for convenience, of course.
This should wake up every man, as every man is a potential victim of one or more false accusations.
It should also wake up the powers that be who are forced to spend money to fund the processes involved in answering and investigating false accusations, which are fraudulent and wasteful. Of course there are the ,often ignored burdens, implications, implications and, the costs to the victims of such false accusations, not just money.
Many taxpayers do not realize how much the crime of falsey accusing one or more people of crimes that never took place costs them.
When are taxpayers going to demand something be done to put an end to false accusations?
False accusations cost everyone.
