Police charge McConnellsburg woman over false rape report

The falsely accused in the story below was her ex-boyfriend. While the article doesn't state why she made the accusation, I'm going to guess she was angry with him for some reason.

Rachela Spriggs faces charges

A McConnellsburg woman faces charges for allegedly reporting a rape that apparently didn't happen.

Rachela Spriggs, 20, reported on April 8 that she had been raped by an ex-boyfriend on March 27, according to Pennsylvania State Police, McConnellsburg. Spriggs reportedly provided investigators with a detailed account of the incident.

Police said Spriggs admitted to lying about the incident on April 13. She provided a written statement that the allegations against her ex-boyfriend were false.

A criminal complaint was filed Saturday, charging Spriggs with making false reports to law enforcement.

Even if it were true I wouldn't view this as rape anymore than a case where a husband "raped" his wife. There's no such thing. If a man had sex with his wife a 1000 times, why would we view the 1001th
as rape? Same with boyfriend/girlfriend situations. You can't put these cases of "rape" in the same category as where a strange man breaks into a female's house, holds a gun to her head and rapes her.
In the case where a boyfriend or ex forces a female to have sex, this should be disorderly conduct. At most.

While there are many good arguments against "wife rape" being prosecuted as rape, forcing someone to have sex is rape, and there is nothing between exes that implies consent.
