Woman jailed for lying about rape

A follow up to our story HERE. It appears she was jailed due to the false allegation, not for not showing up for the court hearing. And not only did she get 9 months in jail, she has 18 months probation after.

Lyndsay Gorman gets 9 months for FRA.

A 20-year-old woman who falsely claimed she had been raped in a Belfast park has been jailed for nine months.

Lindsay Gorman, originally from Lake Glen Avenue in west Belfast went to police two years ago, after claiming she had been raped in Botanic Gardens.

It caused widespread alarm among female students in the university area.

An 18-year-old man was charged with the rape, but was later freed after Gorman admitted she had concocted the story.

Belfast Crown Court, sitting in Antrim, heard that Gorman had had consensual sex with two different men on the night she claimed she had been raped.

Her lawyer Denis Moloney said that Gorman was deeply ashamed of what she had done and for subjecting "an innocent man" to the full rigours of the law through a totally despicable allegation".

Judge Geoffrey Miller said Gorman had not only wasted police time, but more importantly, could have destroyed the life of a completely innocent man by her bogus claims.

Gorman, who pleaded guilty to perverting public justice, agreed to serve 18 months probation upon her release from prison.

Thanks to one of our readers for the follow up story.

My false rape accuser had two "loads" in her also, and neither were mine.
She also got a chunk of money from the Rape crisis center, that I'm sure she used for drugs.
I was the second guy she said raped her in that same year, and the perverted law enforcement still refused to press charges against her.
If someone gets beat to death over another false rape accusation from her, can the law enforcement perverts that should have charged her be sued because they did not do there job to protect other innocent men/boys??

NO!

9 months is NOT enough.

This is NOT a victory.

"This is NOT a victory."

It is, actually. AfOR can explain why better than I can.

9 months compared to the 50 years the man could have received.

This is not justice.

OMG, they actually mentioned the mans life possibly being destroyed.

Okay. 9 months is better than 0 months. Feel better? I don't sleep any easier at night.

I hope it bought a lot of crack. I also hope those two pimps wore condoms.

You might want to wait for AfOR to post. His argument consists of a little more than '9 months is better than 0 months'.

False Rape Accusations should be a felony in all 50 states! Write your representative in the state where you are from and tell him or her to take action on this issue now! The fact that women can falsely accuse men and boys of rape and still keep their liberty and anonymity and then claim victim status is an injustice!

I know of a blog wherea woman accused a man of multiple rapes. How is this possible when there is no evidence except for her memories?

I totally agree.

It it really sick that false accusations are not a felony.

I also would like to know what happened to the law in pennsylvania where false accusations were supposed to be a felony.

This was posted on here a good while ago.

OT- Crystal Mangum is still getting plenty of love from pro-liar bleeding hearts: http://www.heraldsun.com/view/full_story/7458432/article-Mangum-released-on-bond?instance=most_commented

This includes a sickening diatribe from the bailbondsman, full of sympathy for this false rape accuser.

OT- Also in the news, Women Against Rape says anonymity for false rape victims would be "an insult to rape victims." http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2010/may/20/women-against-rape-anonymity-defendants

(Cunt much?)

Pierce,

Done. Sorry, been a hectic last half of the week at work and home, and forgot. All set now, and it won't happen again. Promise. :)

About the womyn's group whining about anonymity, we must remember that the only reason they are complaining is because innocent men won't be destroyed by liars. This doesn't apply in any way to a man who has been convicted in a court of law.

"This would be an insult!" is supposed to be more important than the trauma inflicted on the real victims -- the victims of false rape accusations. And as usual, they deny that this happens more than once in a century, like the enabling scum that they are.

Can you imagine if we said that you couldn't prosecute men -- guilty men -- for rape any more, because "that would be an insult"? As if protecting the thin-skinned is more important than defending the innocent!
