The victims of the false claim were later released when one of the false accusers recanted. So storm and arrest first, ask questions later. The most disturbing part? They'd do it all over again. According to the prosecutor: "Investigators took this seriously from the moment it was called in," he said. "We take all rape allegations seriously, it just turned out that this one wasn't true." Mother Apologizes for Daughter in Fort Smith False Rape Accusation
The mother of a Fort Smith woman that claimed she was raped over the weekend now says she knows her daughter lied to her.
19-year-old Heather Erin Smith and her roommate, 21-year-old Jeni Lea Melton, were arrested Saturday after police say they claimed Smith had been raped. Two men, 23-year-old Thomas McDaniel and 30-year-old Steven David, were arrested after SWAT teams stormed their home on South 24th Street but were later released when police say Smith recanted her accusation.
Smith's mother, Ericka Church, told 5NEWS on Monday that at first she had completely believed her daughter's story. She even began posting messages on the Facebook page of the man Smith accused, and called him to ask why he had hurt her daughter.
"I went onto Facebook and I left messages all over his Facebook (page), and two people that he knows," she said. "I want to apologize for saying those things, to his friends and for calling him, I shouldn't have done that, I reacted out of anger."
Police say Church now faces charges of harassing communications, and Deputy Prosecutor Joey Self says her daughter may face additional charges as well.
"That's because the false police report led to a SWAT team being called out, it led to an invasion of a home and two men being arrested," said Self.
Self said that police worked diligently to investigate the rape allegations, which turned out to be false. When asked if this case may discourage actual rape victims from coming forward for fear they wouldn't be believed, he disagreed.
"Investigators took this seriously from the moment it was called in," he said. "We take all rape allegations seriously, it just turned out that this one wasn't true."
Smith and Melton have currently bonded out of jail, and could face formal charges later this week.

So, back to this lame BS again, I see. How many times does this need to be thoroughly debunked before you get it – LE doesn’t profit from rape allegations? At best, they get enough to cover a mere fraction of the expense they take on in setting up sex-crimes units, and investigating alleged rapes.
The real money comes from the war on drugs and gangs. Rape and sexual assault are such a small percentage of overall crime that it would be just stupid to focus on those in an attempt to bring in those Federal dollars.

There was another incident not too long ago in which a swat team was called out (a case of a man accusing another man). At that time, I asked why the enhanced force of a SWAT team (not to mention the substantial expense) would have been necessary. It was suggested that perhaps the accused man had a lengthy and violent criminal history.
Again, here, we have SWAT called out for and arrest where the police should have merely sent an investigator to make contact and ask some questions of the men.
And, again, the official who made the call to sent SWAT to do a detectives work should be made to answer for that decision. (my guess: he/she has been watching too much Law & Order:SVU).
Still, in addition to other charges and fines, the false accusers should be help financially responsible for the cost of SWAT operations. Too often, only misdemeanor charges are available in response to even the most serious of false reporting. Best then to penalize false accusers the full cost of the chain of events their lies set in motion.
If more FRAccusers were made to pay the cost (alone), it would be a serious deterrent to others considering making FRA's.

At the Sotomayor announcement ceremony today, President Obama emphasized the fact that his new Supreme Court nominee was first chosen for the federal bench by a Republican, the first President Bush. "It's a measure of her qualities and her qualifications that Judge Sotomayor was nominated to the U.S. District Court by a Republican president, George H.W. Bush, and promoted to the Federal Court of Appeals by a Democrat, Bill Clinton," the president said. The message was clear: Sotomayor is a judicial moderate with great experience and appeal to both sides of the ideological spectrum.
Which leads to a question: Just why did the first President Bush nominate Sotomayor to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York? The answer, after discussing the issue with veterans of the first Bush administration, is pure politics, with a generous helping of horse-trading thrown in.
The first thing you have to understand is how judges are nominated to the federal district courts, which are below the circuit courts of appeal and the Supreme Court. The higher courts are often the stage for ideologically-based confirmation fights. The lower district courts, are, in the words of one former Bush official, "darn near patronage jobs." Senators, even those in the opposing party from the White House, wield great power over who is nominated to the district court seats in their states. And in 1991, when Sotomayor was nominated, the Senate was controlled by Democrats, and the two senators from New York were Democrat Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Republican Alphonse D'Amato.
By a number of accounts, Moynihan and D'Amato had a longstanding arrangement. "It was a special deal whereby D'Amato agreed to defer to the pick of Moynihan for one out of every four district court seats," another former Bush official told me. "That was a deal that preceded President Bush I, so basically Moynihan was picking one of four district court nominees." That deal stood even though Republicans controlled the White House and thus (theoretically) the right to choose judges for the federal courts.
And at that moment, in 1991, it was Moynihan's turn to choose, and his choice was Sotomayor. There is no evidence that anyone in the Bush I White House or Justice Department thought Sotomayor was a conservative, or even a moderate, but no one wanted a fight with Moynihan. "She was not our first choice," recalls a third Bush I official, "but she was someone who was, if we were going to get a nominee confirmed to that position -- essentially someone we had to go with."
Ah, Pat Moynihan -- who to his credit, was one of the first politicians to emphasize the importance of fathers and decry the divorce epidemic, particularly in the inner cities. It fell on deaf ears.
And Sotomayor is now on the Supreme Court, but at least she has experience! Kagan has none, but apparently none is required. Strange, considering that even Burger King teaches you how to grill frozen patties before putting you on drive-thru.

If I were to do a study of the men posting here who have been falsely accused I would most certainly find all low income beta and omega types. I can only think of one case where an upper class man was accused of rape. It was about 20 yrs ago when I was in Palm Beach and Kennedy-Smith(actually a poor relation because he had to wrok as a doctor to support himself) was accused by an upper class girl. I was at some of the trial and he was acquited.

If the police come to your home to arrest you, what you need to do is go quietly, go to court, kick ass and then go home. Anything else gets you killed or locked up.
There is a reason SWAT was called out and that information is being withheld. A lot of information is being withheld. That is how they operate.
