Proof that Wiccan woman intended to 'sacrifice' man she killed, then falsely accused of rape

Comment to the news story below: A follow-up to this story, where a self-described Wiccan murdered a man and claimed it was self-defense when he tried to rape her.  As shown below, the problem her rape claim is that she had the man's name programmed in her cell phone under the word "sacrifice."

Trivia: what do the following cases have in common with this one?

Answer: Each of those cases involved men falsely accused of rape.  In each, bond was set at the same level as bond was set here, where a woman repeatedly stabbed a man to death.

Cops: Wiccan listed victim as 'sacrifice' in phone

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A self-described Wiccan had a man's phone number programmed in her cell phone under the word "sacrifice" before she stabbed him to death, then claimed he had tried to rape her, authorities said Thursday.

Angela Sanford, 30, is accused of killing 52-year-old Joel Leyba last month with a dagger after inviting him to join her in a Wiccan celebration of spring near a popular hiking trail east of Albuquerque.

She told police she stabbed Leyba three times in the stomach after he tied her up and tried to assault her.

But police say Leyba was stabbed 11 to 13 times, and a detective reviewing Sanford's cell phone found the nickname "sacrifice" instead of Leyba's name.

"It makes us absolutely confident there was something more here than her claims of self-defense," said Patrick Davis, a spokesman for the Bernalillo County district attorney's office.

Sanford was indicted Wednesday by a Bernalillo County grand jury. Her bond has been set at $500,000.

The public defender's office, which is representing Sanford, did not immediately return a message Thursday morning.

Wicca is an earth-based religion, derived from pre-Christian religions and magical practices, that promotes a peaceful and balanced lifestyle. The Wiccan spring celebration normally is held at the end of April.

Members of Wiccan groups in Albuquerque have said they do not know Sanford.

Sanford and Leyba met at a casino about a week before the March 22 stabbing, according to an arrest warrant.

Sanford told Leyba she had brought the dagger for a Wiccan ritual, and they were walking and drinking alcohol when Sanford stopped to urinate.

She told police Leyba attacked her, tied her hands with her rope belt, took the dagger from her pocket and made sexual gestures.

Sanford told investigators that to keep from being raped, she let Leyba think she wanted to seduce him. She stripped to her underwear and persuaded him to lie down, then knelt above him, grabbed the dagger and stabbed him three times before fleeing.

A witness a few yards down the trail said he saw Sanford behind some boulders, clad in underwear. When he made eye contact, she came out and told him she had been raped, the witness told investigators.

Sanford and Leyba were only a few yards from a main trail. Several runners, hikers and bikers responded once she made her presence known.

None of the witnesses heard anyone call for help or saw the woman running from the scene.

"Proof that Wiccan woman intended to 'sacrifice' man she killed, then falsely accused of rape"

This does come as a particular surprise. I figured it was just a matter of time before some proof would be found to support this conclusion.

But, at least now we know the motive for the FRA - she was spotted by another hiker, and needed a quick excuse.

There still seem to quite a number of women who see crying rape as a "get out of anything" card.

$500k bond for a brutal murder? Perhaps it's appropriate? That men get the same for cases where there's is no evidence beyond a woman's word should serve to demonstrate that far from being ignored by LE, the crime of rape is actually elevated about that of murder in it's seriousness.

I'm still skeptical about sacrifice as a motive. Finding the word 'sacrifice' on her cell phone doesn't prove much.

But yeah, lying about being raped does pretty much prove that she murdered him.

sl, see picture at top of post.

I just read elsewhere that she stabbed him while having sex with him in a park bathroom. If true then she needs to be charged with rape as well as murder -- I'm pretty sure he didn't consent to this.

And now the second most disgusting part of the story.

Watch her get away with little or no punishment for it. As do 99.7% of all female criminals regardless of how serious the crime was.

There was a similar case where I live where a woman stabbed her husband or boyfriend and killed him. Then she walked over his dead body a few times the next day and never called for help.

She got one year in jail.

The most disturbing aspect of the "false rape culture" in the U.S., is the degree of participation of the American law community.
The American law community is neglecting it's duty to protect the innocent, when it enables and foments the false rape culture we are now in the middle of.

A friend of mine advised me some time back to get involved in Wicca, simply as a good opportunity to meet a lot of kinky promiscuous women.

I was a little cautious about the idea at the time, and cases like this illustrate why I was concerned about getting more than I had bargained for.

It doesn't?

You forgot the multi-million dollar syndicated TV appearances, the 6-figure book deal and guest spots with Oprah as part of the "settlement".

This woman was just out of her mind. Batshit crazy with man-hate. That's the motive,if you ask me.

Or attention. Never underestimate a false rape accuser's lust for the spotlight, even if it's a brief moment "on stage." These criminals are unbelievably shallow, and to them there is no difference between genuine love (which they are incapable of ever experiencing) and being fussed over by a bunch of deluded, do-gooding strangers. They are pathetic.

To claim she was Wiccan is a damned lie! She was NOT a Wiccan of ANY kind!
It was bad enough that this female monster foully murdered this innocent man, and then posthoumously accused her victim of the equally disgusting crime of attemped rape!
Her actions are replusive to me, not just as a man, but also as a Wiccan, too. I'm 53, have been a male practicioner of Wicca since 1992, and I find it absolutely infuriating and disgusting that mentally diseased people like her claim to be following the Wiccan religion.
I view Wicca as a serious religion and spiritual path (NOT "simply as a good opportunity to meet a lot of kinky promiscuous women", as was mentioned in one of the other posts); unfortunately, too many spiritually sick and immature people are attracted to an alternate religion as a way to feed their own egos and warped desires.
If you (as I have done and still do) carefully research Wiccan beliefs and do a LOT of reading on Wiccan spiritual tradition, you will find that it is deeply ethical and concerns itself with being morally "just".
The greatest rule of Wicca is the "Wiccan Rede": "For each and every thing you do, three times the same shall be done to you." Since the Wiccan religion has the core beliefs of reincarnation (not transmigration) and karma (that the good or evil a person does will also follow them into other lifetimes, until such time as the evil is redressed), the LAST thing a Wiccan would do is commit ritual murder.
Wicca abhors blood sacrifices of ANY kind -- not even animals! (A Wiccan would not want to repay such karma by ending up as the blood sacrifice in some other person's ritual.) So, to commit such an act is an abomination to and a perversion of Wiccan beliefs.
Please excuse my rant on how this lying, conscienceless monster also slandered my religion, but I myself have been the victim of lies and slander because of my Wiccan beliefs -- I wanted to set the record straight as how she was NOT a Wiccan of any kind!
