Isn't it fair, don't you think, that this innocent man is named in the story but the likely false rape accuser woman isn't? And, of course, the story goes out of its way to point out that the man, who is expressly named, is a registered sex offender. (Based on the quality of justice we see on this site, one must wonder if he should be on that list.) Frankly, naming innocent men while protecting likely false accusers is among the more disgusting, more unfair double-standards in a milieu that is positively littered with them. The sexual grievance industry won't classify this as a false claim because the woman hasn't been charged, which means they will automatically suggest it was a rape. (You think I'm kidding? Trust me.)
Sex offender, accused in Melbourne rape, won't be charged
Prosecutors won't file charges against a registered sex offender accused earlier this year of raping a Melbourne woman while holding her and her 12-year-old son against their will for several days.
Police in January arrested Jonathan Burdette on charges of domestic violence, sexual battery, false imprisonment and violation of sex offender registration requirements.
According to a Melbourne police report and prosecutors, a woman told police the 33-year-old Cocoa Beach man, whom she had recently met via an Internet site, wanted to do his laundry and make her dinner, so she gave him a key to her apartment.
But he refused to return the key or leave, and intimidated her from leaving or calling police.
Assistant State Attorney Julia Lynch said prosecutors encountered credibility issues while reviewing witness statements.
The alleged victim told authorities Burdette raped her the first night he came to her home and again about four days later, Lynch said.
But in the interim, the woman continued to meet Burdette for lunch, allow him to stay overnight after cooking her dinner and to run errands together, including visiting her mother's home, a restaurant, several stores and a bank, said Lynch. Burdette remained in the car on some of those occasions, Lynch said.
"We certainly understand where victims are scared to come forward and say something, and this is not this situation," Lynch said.
"We have to look at what they did before and after and unfortunately it appears that there were some concerns about the credibility of her statements as far as it being nonconsensual," Lynch said.
"To say that it was a rape objectively and by the totality of the facts and circumstances, I don't think it's justifiable that we can take that to a jury."

Good work on the part of the police. Also, we should point out that we don't know what his prior offense was for -- you can end up on a sex offender database for something minor.
Exactly, Anon.
This guy could have urinated in public. That might well be his 'crime'.
Being on the register undoubtedly makes it easier for further false allegations to be made.
And when I say 'in public' ... I don't mean in front of a crowd. Come on ... you know what I mean. Late at night in some bushes, while heading home from the bar. We've all done it. Nature calls and such.
There are about 700,000 people on the sex offender registry in the united states.
Now just think about how insane that is!
And they are creating new laws to put even more people on it.
I guess this is not considered cruel and unusual punishment?
And of course you know that no matter what a woman does she almost never has to register.
Like for instance that lady that drugged a guy and shoved her had up his a$$ and left him bleeding...no registry for her.
And of course lets not forget that women who falsely accuse guys NEVER have to register...even when it leads to the guy being raped or imprisoned for years or even decades or being murdered or killing himself.
But as Chef Snark was saying if a guy peed in public he will be on the registry.
Also there is no murder registry so if you kill someone like mary winkler for instance you can move in right next door.
Just don't let anyone see your dick or you will be cast out of society and living under a bridge.
Hysteria aside, what is the supposedly rational argument for sex offender registry?
that's easy, the police and courts don't keep any records you see, so without the sex offenders registers, we would have no way of knowing who these people are.

The first registry was supposed to be for Police eyes only, via the Jacob Wetterling act, Jacob being a little boy kidnapped in Minnesota and never heard from again. The Wetterling act would not have 'saved' Jacob Wetterling, but that is beside the point.
Then came the Megan's law - a PUBLIC sex offender registry, based on the false assumption that knowing all registered sex offenders would 'save the children'. Megan was a little girl raped and murdered by a sex offender neighbor.
The well hidden truth is everyone in the neighborhood knew the men living in that house were sex offenders. Megan's law would not have saved Megan. In fact, Megan's law has not been shown to 'save' any child whatsoever - it's a feel good-get votes law that isolates a subset of those convicted, rightly or wrongly, and prevent their reintegration into society. You pee under a tree, the punishment is for life.
A slew of other laws have followed - Jessica's laws, with living restrictions, again useless. Amber alerts. Dru Sojin. Now Chelsea King will have another useless law trotted out in her name.
The worst of the worst will be the upcoming boondoggle, the Adam Walsh Act, costing billions in taxes, and again - shown to prevent nothing.
You can murder, cook/sell meth, you can join a vicious gang, you can kill multiple people while driving drunk and be welcomed in society.
You can be falsely accused of touching a child and spend the rest of your life banished.
It's not a 'theory'. It's a reality.
"Even" sex offenders can be falsely accused?
What if they were sex offenders because of a false accusation in the first place?
Dear God. Everyone KNOWS you are a publicly listed sex offender, and for those with a propensity to falsely accuse the sex offender registry might as well be a take out menu!
OK, here's a case in point:

Is There A Sex Offender In Your Neighborhood?
A writer named Sandy Morris has posted a picture of a very handsome Navy cadet, Kenny Ray Morrison, as an 'example' of how sex offenders can be good looking and not 'scary' looking.
I looked up Kenny Ray Morrison on Facebook, there is a website devoted to his false accusation.
I posted several replies to Sandy Morris as Smackdab, becore she finally backed off and stopped accepting comments.
Sany Morris is free to post pictures and direct people specifically to this young man. What her motivation or reason was, only God knows.
I asked, but the answer was never forthcoming.
I wonder why there is no false accuser registry?
We protect women from Men who pee in public.
But we do not protect Men from women that put them in prison for life or cause them to commit suicide or loose everything they have.
Wonderful country the united states is.

I think that is a banner-worthy question.

How can you fight the fact of a man witch is under multiple substance and the 15 yr old girl is sober and takes advantage of him to where he has to register now and he takes a Polly graph and it is indecisive they don't know, he has no clue if he did or didn't because he was under multiple substance and it was stated by the 15 yr old girl that she was sober.. but has to register and can't get a break
