College guys walk in high heels to raise awareness about sexual assault

The very suggestion that it wouldn't be a bad idea for women to walk in men's shoes, as a symbolic gesture of solidarity in opposition to false rape claims, would be met with cries of "misogyny."

High steppin' men raise money, awareness for sexual assault prevention

KOCHVILLE TWP. — Matt Pierson got some tips from Patrick Eurich about how to walk in his size 17 shiny red high heels in preparation for the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" at Saginaw Valley State University Wednesday evening.

The event aims to raise awareness and financial support for sexual assault prevention, education and services.

Pierson, 23, of Clio, and Eurich, 21, of Breckenridge, walked with about 150 other men in the event outside the Ryder Center and throughout the campus.

Here's the comment below the story:

What a sad, sad sight.

It's like watching sheep picket for better working conditions for the shearers.

Do we see any women "Walking a mile in his Cell Block" to raise awareness and financial support for men who are falsely accused, falsely arrested, falsely tried, falsely convicted, and falsely imprisoned based on false accusations of rape?

Do we see women "walking a mile in his combat boots" to end Draft Registration?

What color ribbon are women wearing to "raise awareness and financial support" for prostate cancer?

Which month is set aside to commemorate the fact that due to the sum total of all of the ways society discriminates against males, men actually have a shorter lifespan?

Sexual assault of women is such a vanishingly tiny problem compared to the REAL injustices which men face every minute of every day.

Walk in her shoes? You mean the slutty shoes she's wearing when she willingly has sex with some poor guy, or the formal shoes she's wearing after she's regretted the encounter and goes to the police a week, a month, a year later to lie that she was raped? You mean THOSE shoes?

More nonsense on campus. Rape is practically unheard of on college campuses as well as off campus.

What is so sad and pathetic about this is that these stupid naive boys probably think they are going to win kudos from women for being so sensitive and caring.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Women will instinctively lose all respect for men who are too stupid to see through their BS. Boys, you had better stock up on hand lotion and kleenex cause you aint gonna be getting any action for a while. Still, more easy pickings for me next time I visit my old university campus. Hmmmm....

In 50 years time high school history books will have pictures of events like this to illustrate the emasculation of males in our time of history. Now class, can you tell me what a mangina was? By then I'll probably be a cranky old man and people won't believe me when I tell them how things were when I was young!

Rape hysteria has very little to do with protecting women anymore, and has everything to do with "empowering" the gender / Raunch community.

Anonymous said...

The theory goes that if you foster and promote homosexuality in our young men, then they won't be raping women around every corner on campus "like they are doing now"
The problem with this perverted theory is that a person is at least 100 times more likelly to be falselly accused of rape than one is of being the victim of a "Real Rape".
"Rape hysteria" now has very little to do with protecting women, and everything to do with POWER AND CONTROL.
"Rape hysteria" gives the gender / Raunch community on college campusus a "disproportionate" amount of sway and influence over campus politics.

When I was in college I was taught that a woman would never ever, ever, ever lie about rape, ever. It is this type of rigid paradigm that has contributed to today's rape hysteria and false rape accusations.

That campus Rape Awareness Center misrepresented the entire student body and the local community at large. This misinformation gets its roots directly from academic feminism and has got to stop.

I have three questions:

Has a boy wearing high heels in one of these goofy displays ever prevented one girl from being raped?

CAN the boys participating in this silly, emasculating event stop a single rapist from raping?

Or, is it the GIRLS who are far better positioned to prevent rape by NOT PUTTING THEMSELVES IN RISKY SITUATIONS (e.g., sex play with strangers while heavily intoxicated) than all the boys marching around in high heels?

My problem with this nasty display
is that it implicitly condemns and seeks to hold an entire class responsible for what a few members of that class do, by suggesting that if the class, as a whole, changes, the few will change, too. It is saying that innocent males can stop rapists when innocent FEMALES have far greater ability to curtail rape by taking precautions.

Anon at 1:15: I agree. It's not that these boys are idiots; they just don't know any better. And really, is it so hard to believe they'd do things like this, given that colleges use their tuition and often our tax money to continually beat the "woman-as-victim" drum. It's a multi-millionare dollar hard sell, and it's very effective. Even boys who don't give a crap about gender issues have it lodged in the back of their heads that women are at risk because of "bad men."

A more effective use of everyone's time, men AND women, is to make them take a class on consent. The feminists are particularly confused on this crucial issue.

No.

Of course not.

As I said in an older piece on my blog, this kind of thing won't have the slightest effect on men who already see women as pieces of meat to be exploited as they like.

What it WILL do, is shame non-raping men. (Not this walk a mile display as much, but the kind of poster linked to in my piece.) Men who don't and will never commit rape, are rightly offended by the accusation that "men" rape.

And that, ultimately, will push them away from the kind of people who put these things out.

Chef Snark said...

By which I mean, "men" the collective, as opposed to "men" as individuals.

That reminded of this story from Heather MacDonald:

"a William and Mary student had charged rape after having provided a condom to her partner for intercourse. The boy had cofounded the national antirape organization One in Four; the school suspended him for a year, anyway."

Being anti-rape is no defense against false accusation.

This is what passes as wit among the man-hating radical fesminist set.

Thank you for your misandry, madam.

You obviously know nothing about this site, or about the fact that we are opposed conventional rape, or any other kind of rape. You have pegged us as woman-hating Neanderthals, when in so doing, you've revealed yourself as a classic man-hater.

Why do we say that? Because you have precisely zero inclination to speak out against false rape claims.

But forget about men. Who cares about the countless innocent men falsely accused. The fact is, Dawn, you have zero concern for RAPE VICTIMS.

Yes, that's right. You, who I am sure thinks of herself as a smart ass crusader for all women's issues, are doing a grave disservice to rape victims because every false rape claim -- about which you care nothing -- hurts the credibility of rape victims more than anything else. In case after case after case that we report here, Judges bemoan the harm visited on rape victims by rape lies. Some of our most supportive email comes from RAPE VICTIMS -- because, gee, Dawn, they HATE false accusers. As you would, if you really cared about rape victims.

Of course YOU would know all that since you are so terribly familiar with our site. Right.

That is the difference between you and us: we acknowledge rape is a problem and we are doing more than you are to enhance the credibility of rape victims.

You refuse to acknowledge that false rape claims are a problem, and as a result are perfectly fine with hurting not only innocent men but also rape victims.

Spare us your sick, twisted, and typically lame feminist "humor."

Anonymous said...

How dare you, Archivist, suggest that false rape claims are worthy of the sort of "awareness" that the high heels stunt garnered. You obviously support rape!

Please note Archivist that Dawn's comment fulfills the prediction you made in your post! I'll bet Dawn didn't realize she was doing that for you.

I, for one, have tuned out the bellyaching that we are rape apologists. That's akin to calling anyone who opposes Obama a "racist."

Dawn obviously knows little about history if she thinks that rape was never prosecuted prior to modern feminism. It certainly was -- and in fact, men were not infrequently the victims of false prosecutions even then; for a great depiction of our pre-feminist legal system read or watch 'To Kill a Mockingbird.' But now it is even easier to falsely accuse and get away with it, and rape shield laws stack the deck against the accused from the get-go.

Oh -- and lynchings were all about false rape accusations, in case Dawn never learned about that in Womyn's Studies.

Chef Snark said...

"Let's silence these high steppin' college guys and all other groups who raise rape awareness. Why can't things be the way they were 50 years ago when conventional rape was never questioned."

Translation: why can't things be like they were, er, about 10 years ago. When no-one talked about things like false rape allegations, paternity fraud, family law bias against men, boys falling behind in schools. What Dawn is unhappy about is that her 'woman-as-perpetual-victim, man-as-evil-brute' narrative no longer has the same complete stranglehold on the debate it had not so long ago.

Dawn, go and have a good sulk about the fact that you are not getting your own way all the time anymore. Buy yourself a box of chocolates, run a bath, get a chick flick out from the video store, and have a good long cry about the fact that you aren't getting your own way all the time anymore.

Archivist said...

Nick raises an excellent point: "Translation: why can't things be like they were, er, about 10 years ago."

Things have changed. The reason is the internet. Most men were completely unaware what was being taught in Women's Studies classes, and were unaware that feminist legal scholars spearheaded innumerable changes in rape law that made it much easier to convict men, innocent and guilty, of rape without taking any precautions to insure that innocent men aren't harmed.

We can all thank pioneers like Glenn Sacks. For false rape claims, KC Johnson almost single-handedly gave credibility to what we do.

The same is applied to any violent crime, real or imagined, that a male is accused of. Assaults are a favorite non DNA based crime to falsely accuse men and boys of. The only evidence needed is the woman's word.

Anonymous said...

Remember feminist's favorite phrase "the victim must be believed".

Nick S said...

Pierce, it is quite true that the internet has been vital to the growth of the men's rights movement in that it has provided an avenue to bypass the feminist-dominated mainstream media.

Indeed, a lot of the evidence for how men are discriminated against in society has been around a lot longer than the last decade. It is just that before the internet it was much harder to organize and educate people around alternative viewpoints. I have actually read old articles written around 1970 (during the early days of the women's movement), and even back then saner voices were warning that feminism was a sham movement using dubious claims of victimhood to extract more unfair advantages for women over men.

Nick S said...

"Yes Dawn, because a critical response is the same as silencing! In fact - anything you don't like is a case of "silencing"!

You're a genius!"

Indeed, it is hilarious that she talks about people being "silenced". As if somehow feminists are a bunch of brave dissidents blowing the whistle and being silenced by a corrupt establishment.

The reality couldn't be further from the truth. In truth, all the established interests in academia, the media, government, the legal system and other professions are generally more likely to have a vested interest in maintaining the feminist narrative, while it is those who dare to speak out about things like false allegations who are silenced and marginalized as a threat to the status quo.

The problem feminists have is that they are largely victims of their own success. They have got such an emotional investment in victimhood that they cannot even come to terms with how wildly successful they have been in corrupting society's institutions for their own selfish ends.

Archivist said...

"Assaults are a favorite non DNA based crime to falsely accuse men and boys of."

As someone who follows these issues very carefully, claims of assault without sex are far less common. The sex element is the nuclear additive that the liar knows will cause it to be taken seriously.

Archivist said...

Nick, I think that so many of the premises of feminism were unchallenged for so long that our movement is seen as an assault on their "truth." They become infuriated by our perspective, and by the fact that we point out things they can't argue with.

Nick S said...

"Has a boy wearing high heels in one of these goofy displays ever prevented one girl from being raped?

I would go one step further, and suggest that this kind of silliness might embolden potential rapists and other offenders. That is because men who are so emasculated are less likely to be willing or able to protect women in danger. What would actually deter rapists is if guys did things like offer to accompany women they know in risky places, or put themselves at risk if a woman is harassed or attacked. You know, the sort of stuff men used to do before they got tired of being villified and learned to keep their distance from women lest everything they do be interpreted in the worst possible light.

In my country (Australia) there have been several cases in recent years where Caucasian women have been attacked and even gang-raped by men of middle-eastern background. No doubt these crimes occur in large part because the offenders assume white men are a bunch of pussies who can't protect women.

Meadester, thanks -- here's what this male feminist Payne wrote, among many other things:

"Despite the fact that I have spoken out regularly in the past about the pervasiveness of the “rape culture” in our society, and pointed out various ways men are socialized to objectify, degrade, and in a host of other ways, harm women, I failed to recognize and confront my own identification with sexism and male dominance. I forgot what should have been overwhelmingly clear from my involvement with feminism – that all men living in a patriarchal system, even those who struggle against it, act in ways that are sexist and benefit from these actions. But, even though no man is ever cured of his allegiance to sexism, he can consciously and consistently alter his behavior to reflect a more enlightened and loving way of life. Doing so requires a level of vigilance and self-criticism that I was clearly not applying in my life when this incident occurred."

Speak for yourself, you wretched self-loathing male. Reminds me of gay bashers who are secretly fighting something in their own lives. Guess what, Payne? Very few men would do what you did. You got issues? Deal with them. Don't assume "men" in general have issues.

And stop writing like a f*cking idiot with the feminist babble.

Sorry to burst your bubble there Payne, but I've never felt the urge to rape, molest, grab butts, etc.

It's you and your own individual failings. This fuck - this convicted sexual offender, wants to say that all men are just like him?

Thus absolving himself of blame, right.

What a sickening individual. Not surprised in the slightest that he identifies as feminist. Will he do it again? "Whoops! Still benefiting from the patriarchy! Sorry, ladies!"

Archivist said...

Chef Snark, doesn't he sound like an American televangelist who preaches the evils of homosexuality -- how it's an abomination against God, a sick and twisted lifestyle, etc. -- and then it's revealed he's having an affair with a teenage boy?

Let me explain how I, personally, benefit from the "patriarchy" when it comes interacting with members of the opposite sex: far from ever doing anything similar to what this cretin did, I am, to this day, extremely careful not even to be in the same conference room alone with a subordinate female because I don't want her to fantasize that "something" happened, or that I had the "wrong" intentions. This "patriarchy" that's supposed to benefit us has most of us walking on eggshells -- not grabbing women's breasts -- ever wary that our actions will be purposefully "misconstrued" to exact some sort of advantage or vengeance, resulting in a lengthy prison sentence we don't deserve.

Blaming "patriarchy" or your "maleness" for the malefactions you commit against women is akin to false rape accusers blaming their troubled pasts for destroying the lives of innocent men. Newsflash: your maleness didn't make you do a bad thing, sir, and I can cite billions of examples of men who have done good thing, kind things, courageous things, great things, and who never, ever hurt or abused a woman. For you to refuse to take personal responsibility for your misconduct, and instead to blame it on your dick, is despicable.

Virtually every society that has ever existed has been a patriarchy of one sort or another, so this is like saying "all men living under a blue sky are sexists." It's meaningless.

And really, how does eliminating patriarchal structure encourage better treatment of women? The best example of that are America's ghettos, where most children grow up without fathers. Are women treated better in the resulting environment or worse? On the other hand, it used to be considered necessary to tip your hat when you met a lady. Patriarchal social structures usually protect the dignity of women.
