To think, if she had filed the claim just one day earlier, she never would have been named, and likely would receive absolutely no punishment. Whether she will be punished now, is still up for grabs.
Chelsey R. Poulin faces multiple charges for false rape claim.
EAST BROOKFIELD — A Leicester teenager who police said falsely accused an acquaintance of raping her at knifepoint was arraigned yesterday in Western Worcester District Court.
Chelsey R. Poulin, who now lives at 1 Hemlock St. in Leicester, according to court records, was released on personal recognizance. Judge David Ricciardone ordered Miss Poulin to have no contact with the alleged victim.
Miss Poulin allegedly made the false report Nov. 20, the day she turned 18.
Leicester police charged her with filing a false crime report, intimidating a witness and making a false statement under penalty of perjury.
A summons was issued Feb. 10.
According to Sgt. Paul S. Doray's police report, Miss Poulin told investigators an acquaintance came to her apartment at 230 Pleasant St., No. 3, Leicester, on Nov. 20. Armed with a knife, he pulled her to the living room floor and proceeded to rape her. When the ordeal was over, Miss Poulin said, the acquaintance said, “Thank you and happy birthday” and threw $40 on the floor next to her.
But the acquaintance told police Miss Poulin asked him to come over. He said she asked to borrow money and he gave her $40. He said she asked him for an additional $190 and he said no. Before leaving the apartment, the acquaintance said he lectured Miss Poulin about getting a job and to stop getting money from people, the report said.
Four days later Miss Poulin allegedly admitted to police that the acquaintance did not have a knife, hadn't threatened her with the use of one and had come to her apartment to give her $40 for her electric bill, the report says.
Sgt. Doray concluded the acquaintance did not rape Miss Poulin. In fact, the acquaintance gave her money to pay her bills as he had claimed. When he did not give her more money, Miss Poulin filed the false report.
