The head of NOW says Tim Tebow ad celebrates violence against women

NOW President Terry O'Neill: “I am blown away at the celebration of the violence against women in it. That’s what comes across to me even more strongly than the anti-abortion message. I myself am a survivor of domestic violence, and I don’t find it charming. I think CBS should be ashamed of itself.”

And if the genders were reversed, what would be the reaction?

I wonder if NOW has any comment about ads that show a woman tripping a waiter and sending him head first through a glass window or a woman using a nail gun on her husbands chest or throwing him from a moving car?

Or How about any time there is a criminal portrayed in any ad as a burglar or a drunk driver it is almost always a WHITE MALE but you never hear complaints about that.

If you watch commercials probably 99% of all violence is directed towards men.

This was cartoon "violence." No
sane person thinks it celebrates violence against "women."

I am so tired of those tired banshees at that tired organization trotting out that tired argument that any individual woman portrayed in the media represents all women. The same is never true for men, unless the man depicted is doing something bad.

Go. To. Hell. NOW serves no good purpose whatsoever. It is a hate group.

Folks always blame women feminists for neo gender feminist rhetoric and policies, but i say that there are some male gender feminists that are also "fomenting and enabling" the hysteria.

The current gender feminist approach to domestic violence..is now the dominant approach for many police jurisdictions in the U.S.
It is this new gender feminist approach to domestic violence, that enables out of control and violent women.
If Academia would study womens violence, i would guarantee that violent women who get no treatment for their violence, are also the ones who (in a fit of unrestrained violence) kill their children.

Ha, my mom tried doing her dissertation on domestic violence by women. Even though before that she was the golden student, she was immediately pushed and bullied out of her program. Academia is not going to study violence by women. Sorry.

NOW needs to shut down. Archivist, you are right, they are a hate organization. When will the war against men end?

There is way to man mangina men out there willing to do anything no matter how wrong or unfair for their own power.

Of course there are. Not all feminists are women, and most women aren't feminists. That is, in the modern sense of the word. In the traditional or historical sense, almost everyone in the First World is a "feminist".

Poor, poor Terry.

She was hoping to go on the attack over an anticipated anti-abortion message that never eventuated.

As we say in my country "Come in spinner".

You've been played Terry, and masterfully played at that.

By ridiculously associating this warm, fun-filled ad with violence against women, I think that she is casting considerable doubt on her own claims of having been a victim of domestic violence. She appears to be somebody who resorts to bizarre, hysterical claims in order to get her way and silence any opposition. Whether you agree with the underlying message or not, this ad is harmless.

I think the best part of watching this ad was the anticipation that there'd be some sort of questionable content. Given that it's anti-abortion, I'd expected them to thrown in a "well sometimes your husband beats you but it's cool if you ride it out," but nothing, just a boring ad with 15 seconds of baby pics.

It's hilarious, because there's not a hint of domestic violence *anything* in that ad, and I was so waiting for it that at the end I couldn't believe it and start laughing hysterically.

Whoever runs NOW is quite obviously a crack addict or delusional.
