BIG NEWS: Duke false accuser arrested for assaulting her boyfriend. Will the progressives condemn this act of domestic violence? Somehow I doubt it

If the progressives were truly concerned about gender equity (and most are not), they would use this an occsasion to publicize the irrefutable fact that men, too, are victimized by domestic violence. My guess is that they will instead use this incident to publicize their preferred narrative, that domestic violence against men is too insignficant to discuss, that this was an isolated incident, and that this shouldn't distract us from the real issue, that men routinely assault women. They've had much practice using that same line of defense -- they said the same sorts of things when it turned out Ms. Mangum wasn't raped. Then lots of us found out the truth about the prevalence of false rape claims.

Please note the irony: the most notorious false rape accuser in recent history might actually be responsible for bringing to light yet another issue that affects men -- the last time, it was false rape claims; this time, domestic violence against men.

And perhaps now she will get the justice that she deserved for falsely accusing three Duke lacrosse players. But I won't be surprised if they just let her waltz again. How many more male lives will this despicable human being try to destroy?

Duke lacrosse accuser charged with attempted murder, arson

Police in Durham, NC, arrested Duke lacrosse accuser Crystal Gale Mangum, 33, after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend, set his clothes on fire in a bathtub and threatened to stab him, WRAL-TV reported Thursday.

Authorities charged her with attempted first-degree murder, five counts of arson, assault and battery, communicating threats, three counts of misdemeanor child abuse, injury to personal property, identity theft and resisting a public officer.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. late Wednesday, police received an emergency call about a domestic dispute from a house in Lincoln St.

Authorities said they believed the call came from one of the three children inside the house.

When officers arrived, they found Mangum and her boyfriend, Milton Walker, 33, fighting.

According to police documents, Mangum scratched, punched and threw objects at Walker and told him, "I'm going to stab you."

She then went into a bathroom and set his clothes on fire in the bathtub, police said.

Officers called the fire department to put out the flames.

Milton was not charged in the incident, police said.

The three children inside the house, aged 3, 9 and 10, were not injured.

Police charged Mangum with identity theft because she gave them a fake name, "Marella Mangum," and age, authorities said.

She also resisted the officers who responded to the scene, according to police documents.

Mangum was being held in the Durham County Jail on no bond and was scheduled to appear in court later Thursday. She was ordered to have no contact with Walker.

Mangum, the author of the memoir "Last Dance for Grace," was a student at North Carolina Central University in 2006 and also worked as an exotic dancer when she performed at the now infamous Duke lacrosse party.

It was there, she claimed, that three white members of the team trapped her inside a bathroom and raped and sexually assaulted her.

David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann were indicted on rape and other charges on the basis of her allegations but eventually exonerated after North Carolina's attorney general dismissed the case, citing a lack of evidence.

Addition to last paragraph: the attorney general declared the three young Duke men "innocent."

Poetic justice. Just as sweet. Half the calories.

Well that's a first. The tide must be changing.

But female like this should have been imprisoned the first time they make a false complaint. They ALWAYS make either another false rape allegation or commit some other crime.

This was domestic violence committed by the most notorious false rape accuser in recent times.

The big question is this: will the progressives (1) condemn her and use this as a chance to publicize the fact that men are also victims of domestic violence, or (2) stick their heads in the sand, or (3) claim that this isolated incident should not be seen as typical -- and that most domestic violence in male on female?

MY GUESS: they will take number 3 -- the last approach. Anyone care to bet me?

I thought there was evidence - a video that proved she was lying.

Archivist said...

Yeah, to say "a lack of evidence" doesn't really cut it, does it?There was affirmative evidence that she lied.

Will Nifong defend her, I wonder?

Where's Jesse Jackson now?

they will claim its a rare occurrence for a female to behave this way and then stick their heads in the sand.

This piece of human trash should not even be in society in the first place after her false rape accusation she should have been serving decades in prison.

The way I understand it she already had a long and pretty violent crimnal history BEFORE the duke case. A criminal history that would have landed a guy in prison for a long time.

Hearing this latest story proves one of my beliefs about false accusers.....they are some of the lowest scum on earth. The people that falsely accuse people of things that I have known in my own life ALL fit that profile.

It will be nice to see how CNN totally ignores or distorts this story!

Also I bet she gets away with no jail time off of this as usual.

Maybe nifong will go in a shooting spree next!

When law enforcement use terms like "lack of evidence"..
This use of semantics is what I mean when i say the new "gender feminist courts" "reddefine what the meaning of is, is!!"
When i asked the law enforcement to charge my false rape accusser with filing a false rape report against me, they said to me "We don't know that she was lying to us"
I said what do you mean "U DON'T KNOW SHE WAS LYING" call the taxi cab company she said took her home, and you will see there are no cab reports, because i didn't rape her, and i gave her a ride home that night.
So you see folks, the law enforcement community now needs to be seperated from the gender feminist pork/hysteria community, and it will take a civil rights lawsuit to
"BREAK THE GENDER FEMINIST / LAW ENFORCEMENT MISSINFORMATION ALLIANCE!!
THIS ALLIANCE IS A STAIN ON THE AMERICAN CONSTITUTION!!

It is a modern perversion of our legal system that enables violent women, and their False Rape accussations.

In the pantheon of defenders of the falsely accused, Prof. KC Johnson ranks on the uppermost tier. His blog, Durham in Wonderland, was so instrumental in helping to gather information and in keeping pressure on the powers-that-be in the Duke lawcrosse case, that one of the falsely accused young men thanked Prof. Johnson in his public statement after being declared innocent.

Now THAT'S an influential blogger!

I urge everyone who wants to know anything about the Duke case to consult his blog -- it is the gold standard for men's rights blogs, even rhough it is limited to this one subject. DURHAM IN WONDERLAND

How is this about "progressives?" What have Republicans done to combat false rape accusations?

Other than that, ditto on Mangum; the slime deserves a lifetime in prison. I feel sorry for her kids as well as her victims.

Archivist said...

"How is this about "progressives?" What have Republicans done to combat false rape accusations?"

Who was beating the pots and calling for castration? Gee, it was . . . the extreme wing of the Democrat party.

Getit????

Archivist said...

P.S. Sorry that I insult your party, pal, but they've lost me. I'm a life-long Democrat, but I can't support any party that is IN BED with NOW, the gang of 88, Rev. Al Sharpton, and any number of others of like mind.

The Republicans have their faults, too. The law and order crap hurts innocent men. But they are misguided more than anything -- they don't hate white males, my friend, the way the extreme left wing of the Democrat party does. I know it's painful to hear that about your party -- it took me a long time to come to grips with it, but it's a fact. The ones calling for "castration" were "enlightened" progressive students, with the backing of the most liberal members of the Duke faculty. Progressives. And they can GO TO HELL.

Can you get that I'm angry? Ain't nobody defending that crowd on my blog.

Archivist, there is plenty of evidence that the modern day Democratic party doesn't care for males, white (and in Obama's case, black males):

NOW endorses Obama:

September 16, 2008

. . . . Although it is very unusual for us to endorse in a presidential election, this is an unprecedented candidate and an unprecedented time for our country. . . . . [They mention pay equity, reproductive rights, violence against women, the Supreme Court] "For more than a decade, Barack Obama has said "yes" to women's rights, while John McCain has consistently said "no" . . . ."

McCain on Title IX: "I am concerned, however, that the Clinton administration took unwise liberties in interpreting Title IX with the consequence that many schools have adopted policies of strictly equal funding for male and female athletic programs. Unfortunately, many popular athletic programs have been cut because the overall amount of funding available for athletics programs will not sustain identical men's and women's programs in every sport." [Both Obama and Hillary are just fine with Title IX]

Marc Rudov lists what Obama has done for men:

*In 2008 and 2009, Obama castigated men on Fathers’ Day for leaving their pregnant unmarried girlfriends. Did he make a similar speech on Mothers’ Day to vilify unmarried pregnant women? He did not. Roe v. Wade, which Obama supports, says: it’s her body, her baby, her choice. Yet, Obama blames men for women’s choices.

*Unconstitutional women-only section at Whitehouse.gov.

*White House advisor on violence against women, corresponding to the unconstitutional Violence Against Women Act.

*Fatherhood.gov to teach men parenting, while Motherhood.gov is nonexistent (by giving birth, women are fully equipped to be great mothers, right?).

And Marc Rudov quotes Biden:

"In my house, being raised with a sister and three brothers, there was absolute — it was a nuclear sanction — if under any circumstances, for any reason, no matter how justified, even self-defense, if you ever touched our sister, literally, not figuratively, literally. My sister, who is my best friend, my campaign manager, my confidante, grew up with absolute impunity in our household.

"And I have the bruises to prove it. [laughter]"

Sonia Sotomayor: "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

Robert Reich, one of the architects of Obama's recovery plan: "And if construction jobs go mainly to white males who already dominate the construction trades, many people who need jobs the most -- women, minorities, and the poor and long-term unemployed -- will be shut out." [WE SEE HOW THAT WORKED OUT -- THEY GOT THEIR WISH. WHITE GUYS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED BY THE RECESSION]

AND I COULD GO ON, AND ON, AND ON ALL NIGHT.

Surely the law can't let her walk for this.

Hasn't Amy Bishop taught them what happens when you turn a blind-eye to violent psychopaths simply because they're female?

Archivist said...

Axel, thanks for the links, especially Robert Reich. Brilliant tie-in that shows how the Obama administration mistreated men during the recession, and we see the result.

Anon at 5:58: last time, she was deemed a political hot potato, and nobody wanted to prosecute her. WOW! When will this end? Let's hope NOW!

This is what happens when you give law breakers a pass - they progress to further crimes.

Will she be given ANOTHER pass because she has again chosen a 'protected species' claim?

False rape? She's 'troubled'.
Attempted murder? He must be an abuser.

This girl is no dummy.

Anonymous said...

Oh, you won't catch me defending the 88, either. They're scum. But if you read widely about false accusations (and of course, you do) then you know perfectly well that a lot of false prosecutions are handled by Republicans.

My point isn't that there aren't misandrist liberals -- obviously there are -- but just that making a partisan issue out of this seems to be counterproductive. That's all I'm saying. It's not as if the Republicans in Congress are introducing legislation to reign in the arbitrary power of local prosecutors or otherwise cracking down on false accusers, either.

"Neutrality is always preferable to hostility."

- Bernard Chapin on Republicans and Democrats

Archivist said...

Anon, I think Dems hurt men's rights a lot more than the GOP does, among other things, because of their intense devotion to NOW and that crowd. For false rape claims, you are correct that the law and order crowd hurts innocent men also. I don't think they mean to. Most of the rape reforms were brought about by feminist legal scholars -- rape shield laws, the end of corroboration, the law allowing rape claims against husbands, etc. Not all was bad, but they had exactly zero concern about what to do if women abuse their new-found power to destroy men with rape claims.

I did not mean to get started on this issue here, but you asked me why progressives. I used progressives here because all of the people who expressed hatred for the lacrosse players were from the extreme left wing of the Democrat party -- that's what set them apart, and I am curious how they'll respond to this.

Archivist said...

No, Snark. We need to call 'em as we see 'em. One of the reasons the liberal went down in Massachussetts, which seems to have altered the entire Obama agenda, was because of her extreme devotion to NOW and her cavalier attitude to a man falsely accused of rape. My point is simple: feminism, the harmful theory, has a strong arm -- and it's the Democrat party. If we doubt that, we will continue to vote the enemy into office, as we did in 2008.

So sorry if this offends anyone. But in this country we only have two practical choices, and the GOP is the lesser of two evils for men's rights.

Snark said...

"No, Snark. We need to call 'em as we see 'em."

Chapin equates Republicans with neutrality towards men, and Democrats with hostility towards men.

I quoted him here because I AGREE with you!

Snark said...

The way I quoted it was really unclear, actually, I can see how you took it in a way I didn't intend.

Archivist said...

Snark, you know that I think you're brilliant -- I really do. You are one of the best writers -- and thinkers -- in the entire men's rights movement. And I am sorry that I misunderstood your comment. That quote is dead on accurate. Great quote.

I also think that the men's movement needs to find a home here in the US in one of the parties, so it's a no-brainer which one. Maybe the GOP will come around to us more if we actually go to them. Don't forget, friends, Ted Kenndy one time was opposed to abortion -- before the feminists were a political force. The reason feminists are so powerful is because they are political. I know it's heresy, but a movement without a party doesn't really work in this country.

I will throw this in....

Look at CNN they are by any one's standards a democratic station.

They have yet to even NAME crystal mangum.

Notice how they totally blew off this latest story about her....go search their site if you want proof.

Now they spent a solid year putting the names and faces of the Duke guys on their network making them out to be rapists.

To contrast that Fox news a republican network DID name her and some of the hosts on that network like Hannity doubted her from the very beginning.

Archivist said...

Anon, today the NY Times named her in an AP story, for just the second time in history. You are right: progressive news outlets couldn't report enough about the three young "rapists" but now that the police actually witnessed at least part of the criminality, and there appears little doubt that she did it, it is a non-story.

Think about it this way: rape is a much more serious crime than attempted murder.

You see, these sorts of double standards are common when we allow criminal allegations to be politicized. THAT'S the problem.

Anonymous said...

Anon at 5:58

In a fair world or country she would have not got away with the first serious crime she did.

I think she WILL get away with her latest crimes.

You know in the United States it's a low percentage shot that a woman will go to prison even for first degree murder.

How many times do we see women shoot and kill or stab and kill their husband or boyfriend often while he is asleep and not got to prison for it??

Also black women are the one segment of the population that get the lightest criminal sentences.

This is a probation at best for her.

Don't get me wrong I hate her and wish she was given life in prison.

But I know how this country works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The following is from FOX news.

This was what crystal had done PRIOR to the Duke case.

Now when reading this ask yourself what you as a guy would have happen to you if YOU did this????

Someone on here the other day had a story about a guy that is sentenced to 6 months in prison for reading obscene COMIC BOOKS!

Here is the part from FOX news....

In June 2002, she was arrested on a multitude of charges while working at a topless dance club called Diamond Girls. According to police, she removed a customer's keys to his taxicab while giving him a lap dance, then stole the taxi while he was in the bathroom. Police chased her at speeds up to 70 miles per hour — frequently in the wrong lane — and when an officer tried to approach her, she barely missed running him over, and struck his patrol car instead. She tried to escape again, but a flat tire ended the second leg of her getaway. Finally in custody, she was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.19 (the state limit is 0.08). While being questioned, Mangum passed out and was taken to a hospital.

In the end, Mangum had racked up 10 charges, including driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license (her license has been suspended three times), eluding police, reckless driving, failure to heed a siren and lights, assault on an officer and larceny of a motor vehicle. In 2003, she pleaded guilty to four misdemeanors: larceny, speeding to elude arrest, assault on a government official and DWI. She served three weekends in jail, was placed on two years' probation and paid $4,200 in restitution and court fees.

I think she WILL get away with her latest crimes.
****

I wouldn't be so pessimistic about this. The police have leveled a huge number of charges against her. Usually when a woman gets away with murdering her husband it's because she is able to claim that she had been abused over a long period of time. But Crystal Mangum has no credibility whatsoever, due to her history. Plus the evidence against her is both broad and deep.

I think that the chances are excellent that she will do some real time.

I should have added that this was my source of that story.
