Anyone who would 'lie and paint somebody as a rapist is worse than a real rapist,' said man falsely imprisoned

More on Biurny Peguero:  "What happened in this case is one of the worst things that can possibly happen in our criminal-justice system," said the judge as he issued sentence, which allows Gonzalez to be eligible for parole in one year. According to the Post, prosecutors wanted her to be sentenced to two to six years "so that there's a chance that she will serve what he served." McCaffrey said he hopes Gonzalez "doesn't go through what I went though," considering that in prison "rape is the worse crime possible." He added that anyone who would "lie and paint somebody as a rapist is worse than a real rapist or a real murderer," but said he wishes her "the best of luck," the tabloid reports. "Jail isn't easy," he said.

Isn't that a great cover page? I'd love to see one of those everyday.

P.S. That cover page is a nice ending to this case -- I am sick of writing about it! Do you know how many stories we've done about that case here?

Anyway, I just want all of our readers to revel in that cover.

The victory here (True Justice for McCaffery still withstanding) is that this story has gotten national attention. Far too many times, even when women do get some form of real punishment, it gets little more than a couple of sentences in a page-5 story; and, if it were not for this site, those stories would pass by unnoticed save for the few who were directly involved.

Even people who don't bother to read news papers are still going to see that page prominently displayed in news paper boxes all around NYC.

As good as it is to see people be informed, better still to see other women being warned.

Excellent point, slwerner. The movement to raise awareness about false rape claims can't buy this kind of publicity.

I love the New York Post!

1-3 years should be automatic just for having a guy arrested falsely though.

She deserves to serve out his 20 year sentence at LEAST.

If you kidnapped a woman and kept her in a cage for 4 years what kind of sentence would you get? Well that is what she did to him.

Also she is one of what 2 other women in the U.S. that ever saw a DAY in jail for a false rape claim?

And it cost him 4 years of his life.

Judge:

No, this is the worst thing that can happen to a man. The "criminal justice system" didn't have to rot in prison for 4 years.

Putting the wrong man to death is the worst. This is second.

This is still a kick in the head to all males. It's just a kick in the head with tennis shoes instead of boots.

You know she will only serve 6 months if that. And women's "prisons" are a big joke..it's like a college.

She deserves 20 years MINIMUM.

The U.S. is no place for men.

Anon, the US is bad, but India is worse. So is the UK, apologies to commentator AfOR. In the UK, they have a governemnt leader who was talking about quotas for rape convictions. And they PAY women for crying rape (as does India).

That's not to defend what goes on here.
