Another rape lie debunked by video

Add this to the list of cases where women's rape lies were caught on video:

Surveillance video 'refutes hotel Briton's rape claim

DUBAI // Based in part on closed-circuit television footage, police investigators are disputing the story of a woman who says she was the victim of a sexual assault in The Address hotel on New Year’s Eve.

SP, 23, a British woman of Pakistani descent who was on holiday in Dubai with her fiance, reported a rape to the police on January 1, but was arrested herself, accused of illegal sex and drinking.

“Our investigations revealed that the woman was not subject to any sexual assault, contrary to what she is claiming,” said Major Gen Khamis Mattar al Mazeina, the deputy head of the Dubai Police. SP claimed that she was attacked by a waiter while semi-conscious in a hotel toilet.

However, the police say closed-circuit television footage has confirmed that the suspect did not enter the bathroom after her.

“The woman was not assaulted in the bathroom,” said Gen al Mazeina. “Medical reports conducted also confirm that she was not assaulted.”

One of the female hotel staff has said that she was the one who helped SP into the bathroom, police sources said. The alleged attacker has denied the rape charges. Both the woman and her fiance, SC, a 44-year-old Briton of Indian descent, claimed the police did not investigate the rape.

Half passed out in the loo?

I wonder if this woman is a Muslim trying to cover up her consumption of alcohol.

This idiot is a candidate for the Darwin Award.

Drinking is illegal in Dubai - yet she goes to the police, makes a false rape accusation, and admits to having been drinking.

LOL!

Now that the accusation has been proven false, she's still going to be charged for drinking at the very least.

gwallan,

She would have had nothing to cover up.

The police only know she was drinking because SHE reported the false accusation, and as part of her statement, admitted to have been drinking earlier.

serves her right. too bad she wasnt named. would have made her look like a total fool.

Of course they didn't investigate. Even if this was indisputably rape, she didn't have the required 4 male witnesses (Quran 24:4, 24:13).

I really don't trust this one at all, to be honest. Dubai got itself in some hot water with how they initially treated her (arresting her immediately), so it'd be pretty convenient for them if it turns out she wasn't raped.

Knowing their backward-ass corrupt government, I'd have to see tapes of her going in that bathroom alone before I'd believe /anything/ the police over there say about the case.

If it is false, though, that just ups the level of insanity... I mean, it's fuckin' Dubai. That'd be like me going to China and not carrying around enough money to bribe officials. If you go to a place full of corrupt people you've got to have some kind of back-up plan.

I mean, why would you file a false rape accusation there?! They'd get you for something stupid like standing next to a guy drinking alcohol or having your hair up when it should be down... Jesus.

Ooookay, Imma have to back off on calling this one a FRA until I see some more trustworthy sources.

Everyone's linking to this one article by The National, which just so happens to be part of the government's state run media.

This one just smells like some state-sponsored bullshit. It stinks.

Ah, thankyou. Clearly didn't comprehend what I read. Serves me right for being here at 3am.

gwallan - "I wonder if this woman is a Muslim trying to cover up her consumption of alcohol."

Alternate theory here - she, like many other FRA's was trying to cover up illicit sex with someone other than her fiancé.

Sometimes it helps to go to the linked story, and see if there aren't links to earlier stories about the incident. Indeed, in this case, there are.

Here's what caught my eye: "The alleged attacker denied the rape charge, claiming the woman consented, but has been charged with illegal sex."

Which came after: "Her fiancé, whose religion is unknown, later helped her back to the hotel room, unaware of the attack, but when she told him what happened the following morning they contacted the police".

So, here's what I can see as an alternate scenario.

Drunk woman wanders off from her fiancé and "bumps" into some other guy (anyone remember Lois Feldman), and ends up having consensual sex with him.

Later, after they return to the room – and, likely, the next morning – something triggers the fiancé to ask where she was last night. Perhaps apparent semen on her clothing. (recall that Danmell Ndonye’s lie a Hofstra commenced when her boyfriend challenged her that it appeared to him that she had just had sex)

In a panic, she claims that her consensual encounter was rape. Do note, it didn’t even come up until the next day. If she could correctly understand that she had been raped, why would she wait until the next day?

Of, course, none of what I proffer here proves anything. There might be a grand conspiracy to cover up a rape, to lie about surveillance footage, to have another woman claim that it was she who helped the drunk women in the restroom. Sure, it’s possible. But, to me, it begs the question – “Why bother covering up a crime?”

Because, on the other hand, I can plainly see why a women might lie about being raped.

slwerner,

good points, except even if it was consensual sex, one must consider the country and local mores. This happened in a place that any sex outside of marriage is a crime and severely punished. So, thinking of the situation, crying rape seems like a good conclusion, to someone that isn't from that country. In this case, true rape victims can be treated just as horribly as the rapists.

The Archivist - "So, thinking of the situation, crying rape seems like a good conclusion, to someone that isn't from that country."

This was a woman who, although of Pakistani descent, had grown up in England. And, judging by the heavy drinking, was highly "westernized" [perhaps to the point of being a typical English "ladette" = skank].

I doubt that waking up from a hard night of over-indulgence, it even occurred to her that the mores would be different (she may not have even remembered being in another country).

I think all of us have observed for ourselves that drunk women seldom display either good judgment nor good character. And, we have plenty of examples on this site alone of women getting drunk and having sex - even cheating on husbands or boyfriends.

And, we have one of those "next-day" revelations of rape.

The way I envision it happening, the somewhat less disoriented fiancé woke up and noticed something that clued him in that she had had sex. Given that he had had to help her to the room, it was not likely that it had been with him.

So, he challenged her about it. In a panic, as she tried to collect her thoughts, she remembered both the man she had f*cked and being semi-conscious in the restroom, and conflated those two memories into a claim that she had been raped in that restroom - having no idea that there was video surveillance which would not show her lover going into the restroom with her.

Of course, this is just my speculation. But, it's born out of wondering why the authorities would go to any effort to cover up one crime, while charging another for the same occurrence (the alleged rapist is being charged with sex outside of marriage).

The National is actually an interesting website. there as an article about bachelors, apparantly mostly foreigner, who are being evicted from "family areas". unmarried men can no longer live in parts of town where families live. one reason among others: the women dont like to be looked at.
