. . . The One-in-Four claim is no more true than the claim that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, or the claim that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. But unlike those oft-repeated, media-reported, equally unfortunate examples, the One-in-Four figure maintains its grip on both the public and the private consciousness. It has been rebuked, disclaimed, and defamed, yet still it persists. It grows, it spreads, and it will not die — even though it’s been drawn and quartered and buried by an overwhelming force of fact and truth and data that will not be manipulated.
