Sex assault allegation withdrawn

Chalk up another one. Since she withdrew, and police are satisfied that no sexual assault took place, this can only be classified as a false report. At least no one was arrested, and no names divulged.

Police satisfied that no sexual assault occurred.

WILTSHIRE Police have halted an investigation into an alleged serious sexual assault in Tidworth after a young woman withdrew her allegation.

The Journal reported last week that the girl was dragged into woodland and assaulted near Beech Hill Road on October 21.

DI Matthew Johnson said: “The woman has since withdrawn the allegation and officers are satisfied from their enquiries that she has not been the victim of a sexual assault.

“Wiltshire Police take any allegations of sexual assault extremely seriously and officers will respond by thoroughly investigating.”

UK: Drunk men who demand sex from partner should be 'treated as rapists'

everybody should read the guardian article.

when i read this i assumed they were talking about women who feel after the fact regret, "Being drunk is voluntary and people who become drunk are responsible for their actions. It is not the alcohol that commits the rape. It is not an excuse. It used to be regarded as such, but it is not an excuse . " but, no, they are talking of the "rapists" here.

Anon,

thanks for the links.

Johannes,

Agreed. Funny isn't it, that a woman who has had 1 drink isn't responsible enough to give consent, but let a man down a bottle of vodka, and he's completely responsible for anything he should do.

Chalk up another one for the double standards list.

yet another to be chalked up to unknown motivations.

Frankly, I've reach the point (having read so many other accounts where the motivations have become clear) where, when ever a woman claims to have been drug-off and raped, I now automatically assume that like-as-not, she is simply using the FRA to account for her time and activities (typically, illicit consensual sex) to a husband or boyfriend.

slwerner,

It's one of the down sides to this. Having done this now, for close to a year (Knowing Pierce has been doing it much longer), has jaded em any time I hear a story such as this. I automatically assume FRA.
