Girl charged after making a false statement to police

So, almost a year goes by, and then she makes a false claim? At least no one was arrested.

Girl charged over false statement

Detectives have charged a female youth after she made a false statement to police in relation to an alleged kidnapping and sexually assault at Grafton in November last year.

About 7.30pm on 6 November, officers from the Coffs Harbour Joint Investigation Response Team received a report in relation to the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

It was reported to police the girl had been taken from outside a high school in Grafton by a group of people in a red Daihatsu Charade, before allegedly being sexually assaulted.

Following extensive investigations by police, the 15-year-old was subsequently charged on Monday 21 September at Grafton Police Station, with make false accusation.

She has been granted bail to appear at Grafton Children’s Court on 23 November this year.

Joint Investigation Response Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Paul Devaney said:
“The NSW Police Force takes all matters of sexual assault very seriously and thoroughly investigate all matters.

“Making a false report to police however, is a criminal offence and does place unnecessary strain on police time and resources.”

Anyone with information about a sexual assault is urged to contact their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

It will take the citizenry to stand up against the perverted Alliance. Police jurisdictions are now banking hard dollars on "women as victim" hysteria.
The gender feminist law enforcement misinformation Alliance will not fix this themselves, for they are now banking too much dollars from VAWA to do that.
It will take a civil rights movement to get the gender feminist perverts, and their misinformation campaign out of our police stations.

Anonymous - "The gender feminist law enforcement misinformation Alliance will not fix this themselves, for they are now banking too much dollars from VAWA to do that."

There is some truth to what you say. But, in this particular case, this "boilerplate" seems out of place.

From the article:

"Following extensive investigations by police, the 15-year-old was subsequently charged on Monday 21 September at Grafton Police Station, with make false accusation."

The police investigated, found it to be not just unsubstantiated, but, in fact, untrue, and charged the FRA accordingly. This is a case in which things were handled as they should have been.

Frankly, the police cannot afford to NOT treat each and every sexual assault claim seriously. And, it's not just the politically correct environement that could see them losing their jobs if they failed to act appropriately - there is always the possibility that a real crime has occurred. The police must do their due diligence when given a report.

Here, we see the correct outcome. The lie was uncovered, no innocent men were arrested, and even the police PR officer got it right on this one:

“Making a false report to police however, is a criminal offence and does place unnecessary strain on police time and resources.”

Thus, if I may, I'd like to suggest that response be gauged to fit with the story presented. Addressing undo the influence of the VAWA in investigations should be done WRT accounts of authorities NOT handling a case in the proper manner.

Simply slapping up a boilerplate response where it doesn't fit and doesn't even seem to have a tangential connection to the story gives the appearance that we who post to this forum fail to give proper consideration to what we post, potentially diminishing credibility with those who may just be passing through.

anon,

Link worked fine on this end. And the published article doesn't state why she recanted. Honestly, who cares? As long as she admitted it was made up, and no one was arrested, I could care less WHY she did so.

Well said slwener + archivist.

Give credit where credit is due and why should we care what some little attention seeker lied to the police?

She broke the law, there are no circumstances to justify this particular type of crime as well, so let's not get caught up on her being "under stress" and whatever other excuses they pull out to lessen sentences (generally for Women)
