Why it is wrong to apply the wisdom of the morning to the lunancy of the night
[Excerpt]
. . . . The very term “date rape” sounds frivolous. It was created in America 15 years ago after a psychologist called Mary Ross wrote an article in Ms magazine arguing that unwanted sexual advances from someone you knew should be treated as seriously as those from a stranger. Ms Ross encouraged women who had suffered in such situations to see themselves as victims of crime. Her ideas were taken up by the women’s movement and resulted in the extraordinary scenes on many American university campuses in the early 1990s, when female students marched to “Take Back The Night”.
One such demonstration at Princeton University — where students routinely stood on platforms and talked about their experiences with an almost religious fervour — resulted in a woman falsely accusing a fellow student of brutally raping her. She got so carried away that she wrote about her “experience” to the student paper and named the student, whom she later admitted she had never met or spoken to.
As time went on she escalated the story rather than retracting it, accusing the whole university hierarchy of a cover-up, until the student in question was forced to bring a complaint of sexual harassment against her and she was obliged to settle. Her defence, also written in the student newspaper, was that “I was overcome by emotion”. Her false accusations were disturbingly reminiscent of the “recovered memories” of children who accuse parents and teachers of the most grotesque sexual abuses.
The goal of the women’s groups who encouraged this kind of hysteria was to reveal such women as “lenses of oppression through which the crimes of the patriarch can be exposed”.

It's one thing to be swept up in the "mob mentality" of the moment - it's quite another to continue to escalate after the moment is gone.
What is it about some people that they believe that they can cover for one lie by telling an even bigger lie? When it comes to FRA's, I have a strong suspicion that feminism has taught women that if they "squawk" load enough, they will eventually be given their way. And, of course, they know they can count on the backing of feminists as they persist in their lies.
Recently, Danmell Ndonye provided a very instructive example. It was obvious to her boyfriend that she'd just had sex with someone else. When her denials didn't sway him, she escalated to claiming she'd been kidnapped and raped.
From the interview he gave in the day's soon after, it is clear that he didn't buy her story. But, rather than just coming "clean" and admitting her infidelity, she chose again to escalate, attempting to prove her veracity by taking her story to the police.
Short of there being video evidence of her complicity in the consensual group-sex encounter, there is every likelihood that she would have been willing to continue to escalate her claim, all the way to seeing 5 innocent lives ruined, and distinct possibly of their being incarcerated for many years for a crime which never happened.
If anyone should doubt that a woman could be so uncaring and so callous, with nothing more at stake than her veracity, do consider the woman in NJ, who went so far as to take the stand and perjure herself so as to see the man with whom she had NOT even had sex sent to prison for a rape which never happened.
Crystal Gail Mangum, the Duke false-rape hoaxer is yet another prime example.
At any step along the way, they could have chosen to put an end to the the escalating lie by telling the truth. Yet, not even their own consciences seem to sway them to do the right thing. The very lives of men seemed to matter not when balanced against their own reputations.
If appeals to womens consciences to do the right thing cannot reliably prevent the escalation of rape hoaxes, it is going to be of paramount importance to enact laws to allow for severe punishments. If the lives, livelihoods, and well-being of innocent men cannot convince women to be honest, perhaps the very real threat of personal jail time is the only thing that could possibly convince them not to tell such damaging lies.
For as long as anyone can recall, we have been systematically told that women are more caring, more honest, more deeply concern about justice, etc., than are men.
Well, I'd argue that both the examples here, as well as the general response of most women to the plight of those false accused clearly demonstrates that women simply ARE NOT the better gender.
Thanks for this - always found take back the night to be an especailly misandric, hysterical and hypocritical part of the feminist movement.
Read up on it quite a bit, but had missed this story.
....and as I watched the 'Take Back the Night' parade go by, I saw a group of men right behind with a sign. It read, 'Take Back Our Rights and End the Lies'.

I agree, Archivist. I, myself, see more men afraid to walk alone at night than I do women. This speaks volumes about how men are in more danger of attack than women.

****
Because they know they can get away with it. Our legal system has all but decriminalized false rape accusations. Did the liar in this story go to jail for her crimes? She should have gone away for a long, long time.
Isn't this sort of like stuff that cults do? The members attend gatherings and get all emotionally hyped up, from a leader speaking, then do stuff like kill themselves en masses (Jim Jones), or accuse someone of rape or something?
Is this the same type of "mob mentality" they claim leads Men to gang rape?
