Deputies say woman lied about rape, abduction in Alleghany Co.

No reason is provided as to why the false claim was made. But one year and/or $2,500 in fines would be a good start to stopping this sort of thing.

Alicia Webb charged with filing false report of rape

The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office has charged 27-year-old Alicia Webb of Lewisburg, WV with giving a false police report to police. Investigators say Webb confessed that she made up a story about being abducted and raped on July 8, 2009.

Investigators say Webb told them a man jumped into her car in at the corner of Alleghany and Cypress in Covington and made her drive to the McKinney Hollow area of Alleghany County. She told them the man sexually assaulted her and then ran. The woman walked to a home to get help.

The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office says the charge against Webb is a misdemeanor. But, if convicted, Webb could face up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of $2,500. Investigators say restitution to cover the cost of the investigation will also be sought when the case is heard.

Avenger links to the story about that woman who sent a man to prison all because she didn't want to admit to her friends that she'd left them behind to go to a party.

Well, isn't that nice! Biurny Peguero has finally decided to come out from behind her lawyer and do the right thing and formally admit to what she's done. I wonder what sort of deal that made with her to get her to finally do it (you might recall she was looking for a deal to keep herself out of jail because she has a kid) But, it looks like William McCaffrey's still sitting in prison. Who knows what he gone through by this time.

She found God, and, provided she's granted immunity, wants to do the right thing and admit she made it up, never recanted, even testified to get an innocent man sent to prison.

I'm just waiting for feminists to start labeling her a "hero" for having the courage to go through the mental anguish she must have felt, knowing that while he was walking around free, getting on with her life, getting married and having a child, William McCaffrey was stuck in prison, his life ruined, for a crime he never committed.

I hope I never have to hear one kind word about her - Biurny Peguero is, and will always remain, an evil woman.

slwerner, I'm a big believer in redemption, but that doesn't mean that the person redeemed can whitewash the past. Even redeemed false accusers need to assume the consequences of their terrible actions.

In the heat of the moment, caught up in my rant, I forgot to thank Avenger for the update to the story. I also forgot to link back to the earlier item on this site: An innocent man rots in prison, his false accuser's attorney insists she be given immunity before she'll testify that she lied

And, here's a picture of the [well, I'm not going to use the words I'm thinking], looking all sweet and innocent. When you look at her picture, just remember a man is in prison, his life torn apart (who knows what irreparable damage he's suffered), simply because this women has no soul. She had months to come clean, but she was willing to let an innocent man - a man who had been kind to her in giving her a ride - go to prison just so her friends would never find out she had lied to them.

If anyone ever tries to tell you that women don't lie about rape, including the standard BS about women being too thoughtful and sensitive to make another person suffer wrongly, just remember Biurny Peguero

Archivist - "Even redeemed false accusers need to assume the consequences of their terrible actions."

This is why I believe she is evil. She has continued to let her innocent victim suffer in prison while she seeks a deal so that she WON'T have to deal with consequences herself.

And, remember, the only reason she ever brought it up at all was to try to relive her guilty feelings - but, not to help rescue the man she'd caused to be imprisoned. She went to her priest, seeking personal absolution for what she'd done - but she wasn't planning to go to authorities. The priest did, because he could not convince her to. She wanted the priest to hear her confession, tell her to say a few prayers, and then she could get back to her life, and never have to feel guilty about what she'd done ever again (in her mind, anyway).

But, (I won't say it was fortunate until William McCaffrey is freed - at the very least) the priest wouldn't just let it go. He put her on the spot by revealing what she had told him. She only wanted to whitewash her criminal culpability, privately, for her own peace of mind. The only reason we know of this at all is because her priest "outed" her.

If she wasn't evil, she wouldn't have kept William McCaffrey languishing while she sought a deal to spare her from punishment.

slwerner, I was just speaking generally, not about her, and I figured you'd agree with me in general.

I like to draw this comparison: a false accuser allows a man to rot in prison for YEARS without penalty even though, for every second he's in that hell on earth, she had the power to release him from his torment.

Compare that with the 16-year-old boy who was convicted of a felony because the girl with whom he was having consensual sex told him to withdraw, and by her sworn admission, he delayed -- for five to ten SECONDS.

So for males, five seconds makes you a felon; but for false rape accusers, YEARS is just fine, thank you.

Archivist - "I figured you'd agree with me in general."

Indeed, I would.

Which is why I argue for lesser punishments for those FRA who come-clean quickly, so as to minimize the harm done to others.

Which (hopefully) serves to allow me to segway back to the posted article.

Since Alicia Webb never "named" anyone, and no innocent men were arrested, I'd agree that one year or $2,500 in fines(plus restitution) would be adequate punishement. I'd even argue that one year and $2,500 in fines would be too harsh. [One year, even though it only equates to ~4 mo. in practice, is quite a bit more severe a punishment to most people - loss of job/income, not to mention difficulty in finding a job afterwards - than is $2,500. Perhaps a good way to sentence such offenders would be to give them the fine, back by the jail time if they fail to pay. It's too bad that most people seem to overlook the fact that plenty of innocent men spend 4+ months in jail due to FRA's, and experience that very harm to their finances and futures.

Perhaps a more just penalty for those who cause someone to be incarcerated for an FRA would be to, on top of other fines/jail time, to have them write a certified and notarized letter detailing and admitting to their false accusation, co-signed by a judge, which could then be provided to the real victims future potential employers. Their just explaining that they were falsely jailed isn't likely to get them very far when applying for jobs. Perhaps an official letter demonstrating their innocence might earn them some much needed sympathy with such employers.]

Last summer, when I first started posting here, my son's false accuser was going to 'come clean' and admit she lied.

The prosecutor threatened her with perjury charges, and she folded. Immediately.

So he remains a convicted sex offender and she can say she 'tried' to do the right thing.

I could post the girl's picture here for all to see - she's on Facebook smiling with her two little girls.

It wouldn't help my son in any way.

Innocent men are being falsely accused and convicted everyday in corrupt courtrooms that cater and pander to 'advocates'.

Innocent women are too.

The REAL problem lies not in 'evil women' but in 'Evil courtrooms'.

SgtMom - "The REAL problem lies not in 'evil women' but in 'Evil courtrooms'."

In the case of Biurny Peguero, it IS a matter of an evil women. Yes, she had help. The prosecutor forged ahead without physical evidence - other than a bite mark than one of her friends admits making (proven to be true by DNA analysis). The judge and jury were also taken in.

But, in the final analysis, Biurny Peguero had ample opportunity to do the right thing and keep William McCaffrey from going to prison. Still, she willing took the stand to testify against the man she knew full well had done nothing to her. In fact, she was so convincing in her perjured testimony that he was convicted primarily on the strength of that testimony alone. Again, at his sentencing, she sobbed as she repeated the lies, and added claims of how HE had ruined her life. She walked out of that courtroom and got on with her life. Yes, she acted out of nothing more than evil. And, she, and she alone put it all into motion, and served to keep it going.

In general, while courts can be corrupt, most FRA's never get that far. Yet, even when they are never tried, nor even convicted via plea, men still have their lives upended and ruined. If it were not for the lies of the FRA, even the most corrupt police, prosecutors ans courts could do no harm.

The real problem DOES lie with the evil that beget each and every FRA. A (relatively) good and honest women can seek to stop the evil she has begun. It is an evil women who sees it through to a man's life ruined and in prison. I can see no "wiggle room" here.

Sgt. Mom, that's not good news and we are sorry to hear it. But your comment does underscore the validity of the Prof. Kanin's report -- see this excerpt:

"After the recant, the
complainant is informed that she will be charged with filing
a false complaint, punishable by a substantial fine and a
jail sentence. In no case, has an effort been made on the
part of the complainant to retract the recantation."

For an act committed by a juvenile, perjury would have gotten her, at worst, detention in youth facility. More likely, nothing more than a warning and inclusion into her forever to be sealed juvenile record.

She faced little consequence. If she was really concerned and ashamed of what she'd done, she would still have confessed.

I think you give her too much credit. She clearly put her avoidance of a minor penalty ahead of the life-long damage done to your son.

Too bloody right.

Remember, these people are LIARS.

Once you know someone is a LIAR, only a complete idiot believes ANYTHING they say subsequently, including "excuses" such as these.

Doing the right thing is often uncomfortable and often has personal consequences, that is just part of life and being an adult.

AFOR,

There is one problem, as I see it, with that. If they say they lied about being raped/sexually assaulted, and everything else they say is unbelieveable, then doesn't that play right into the 'rape industry' hands when they state that a woman who recants is just lying to keep from having to face the 'second rape' a trial would produce?

It's a catch 22. Either she is lying about the initial claim, or she is lying that she lied. Either way, the 'rape industry' wins.

And another innocent man is forever tarnished.

The enabling of false rape accusations by women is an injustice to decent, law abiding men.

Women will continue to lie about rape until the legal system and society in general start to take false rape seriously.
