Another day, another false report. At least in this case, no one was arrested....excepting Ms. Rau of course.
ROCKFORD -- A 25-year-old Plainfield Township woman who police say falsely claimed she'd been raped by a maintenance worker at her apartment complex has waived her preliminary hearing in Rockford District Court.
The felony case against Julie Kathleen Rau recently was forwarded to Kent County Circuit Court.
In July, Rau initially told police an unknown man came to her Hidden Valley Town Home apartment in the 4100 block of Spruce Hollow Drive NE and told her he was a drywall maintenance worker.
She said the suspect was let into the house, then forced her to the ground at knifepoint and sexually assaulted her, police said.
When Kent County sheriff's deputies re-interviewed her the next day, Rau admitted to fabricating the story, they said. If convicted, she faces up to four years in prison for making a false police report.
