LaDonna West Chavez arrested for false report
A 30-year-old woman has been arrested for fabricating a story Aug. 27 that she had been sexually assaulted by a man on the Peachtree City golf cart path system near Lake Kedron.
Police have determined that the report made by the woman was false, officials said.
LaDonna West Chavez, 30, of Barberry Lane, Peachtree City, has been charged with making a false crime report and also uttering false statements and writings, police said in a news release late Wednesday afternoon.
Chavez initially told police she was approached from behind by a white male who forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her around 5:30 a.m. Aug. 27. Chavez did not call police immediately but officers were summoned after she sought treatment at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, police said.
Chavez told officers the incident occurred on the path near Lake Kedron and the cul-de-sac of Samiel Point and Larkins Landing.
The news release gave no reason for why the woman turned in a false report.
Chavez was taken to the Fayette County Jail to await her appearance before the Fayette County Magistrate Court for bond, police said.

The only reservation I have about charging them is it might discourage false accusers from coming clean. But then again, someone's life is already destroyed as soon as they're accused of rape so I guess it doesn't matter much after the fact.

In college there was this extremely unpleasant, unfriendly girl on our floor. Always had a bitter hostile attitude with everyone. One night her and my roommate got drunk (while sitting on his lap arms around him), made out, and end up passing out on a bed together. The next day he tells me when they woke up he made a move but she said no so he stopped and left.
The girl starts spreading all sorts of negative rumors about him, leaving a note on her door about him, and posting IM away messages about him. A couple days after that the rape accusation notification came from the resident hall director. The day after that the girl had downgraded her accusation to "molestation". Thankfully the school administrators in charge of the inquiry were level headed about it. No actual rape had occurred, and it was her word against his that anything had happened at all.
The resident hall director, however, was a militant rape persecution crusader. He went after my roommates for weeks trying to pressure him to move to another dorm because it was "making the situation uncomfortable". Apparently it was out of the question for the girl to move if she was so uncomfortable. Eventually everything was dropped.
Now, is it possible my roommate lied and, despite being an unstable drama queen, the girl was telling the truth about something happening? Sure. But next semester the girl moved to a different dorm and ended up filing two MORE rape accusations against two more guys a month apart from each other.
So, either my roommate was lying and this girl just happened to be a magical magnet for rapists, or there was a lot of the crazy involved.
The girl was also princess type from a rich family. A law school friend of mine who goes over a lot of false accusation rape cases says it's almost always a well to do white girl whose reputation was more important than not destroying someone's life (funny how the rape accusations tended to come AFTER her boyfriend found out), or an opportunist who can smell money (stripper).
