Scissors killer jailed for 11 years
A WOMAN who killed a disabled pensioner by stabbing him 18 times with scissors in a frenzied attack was jailed for 11 years yesterday.
One of the blows inflicted by Henrietta Johnstone penetrated 67-year-old Andrew Powell's skull.
Johnstone - who claimed her victim tried to rape her - then left him in his flat to die.
Judge John Morris QC told Johnstone: "You claim you acted in self-defence, but the jury convicted you of a violent attack on a frail man."
Last month Johnstone, 33, was convicted of the culpable homicide of Dominican-born Mr Powell at his flat in Roystonhill, Glasgow, in January.
He had suffered three heart attacks and had a pacemaker fitted, the High Court in the city heard.
He had also had a stroke and suffered sight problems.
Prosecutor Simon Collins said Johnstone's rape claim was "a cold and calculated lie".
Andrew's distraught sister Marlene Severin, 53 - who travelled from New York with elderly mum Beatrice - said: "He died alone and lay rotting.
"Someone supposed to care for him just left him to disintegrate."

This is one reason I could support torture as a punishment for crimes, if I wasn't convinced the government would use it on all the wrong people. It is certainly sad that the UK has no death penalty. I hope she at least gets life without parole in the most brutal prison they can put her in.

Obviously, the sanctity of a woman's vagina has more than twice the value of a man's life.
