Pregnant by your lover? Located in Spain? Cry rape and you, too, can get an abortion. Unless of course, the police discover you are lying.
A Spanish woman has been arrested after allegedly making a false claim that she was raped in order to get an abortion.

The 27-year-old woman, who lives in Malaga, used the excuse to get a termination when she became pregnant after having an extramarital affair, police said.
The woman, who is from Latin America and has not been named, told police that she had been followed by a masked man who forced her into the back of his car, drove her to scrubland, and raped her at knife point.
But police became suspicious after inconsistencies in her story and because she failed to report the crime until two months after the supposed attack. She then took her police report to a medical centre and asked for an abortion.
Police spend three weeks investigating her claim before they accused the woman of inventing the story to prevent her husband discovering that she had become pregnant from her lover.
She is facing between six months and a year for requesting an abortion on false grounds and six to 12 months for falsifying a crime.
The case highlights the need to reform Spain's abortion laws, which are among the most restrictive in Europe, a move undertaken by the socialist government of Jose Luis Rodriquez Zapatero.
Under Spain's current law abortions are only offered under restricted circumstances and rarely in a public hospital. Terminations are only allowed until the 12th week of pregnancy in cases of rape or until the 22nd week in cases of severe foetal malformation.
But a new proposal, to be ratified by Parliament later this year, will remove abortion from the penal code and allow women to seek a termination within the first 14 weeks of pregnancy without having to give a reason.
The bill is the latest in a series of social reforms brought in since Zapatero became prime minister in March 2004 that have put the Socialist government on a collision course with Spain's Catholic Church.

Who was the seventies feminist who argued that women wanted licence rather than equality?
"Police spend three weeks investigating her claim before they accused the woman of inventing the story to prevent her husband discovering that she had become pregnant from her lover."
Yet another case of a woman trying to preserve her lost honor - without regard to what might happen to a man ensnared by her lies. Seems to be quite a lot of this sort of thing going on anymore.
Of course, in the US, married women who get pregnant via affairs make liberal use of abortion on demand to cover their sins - without compounding those sins with subsequent crimes (meaning false allegations, for the low-functioning trolls).
But, what about the old-fashion notions of not getting pregnant outside of ones marriage, or, perhaps even, not cheating on ones spouse in the first place?
Oh Wait! That's the misogyny of the patriarchy oppressing women's sexuality and sexual freedoms.
I apologize tot the feminist for even mentioning such evil male-dictates upon women.
Regardless of one's stance on abortion, this case highlights the dangers of giving women further incentives to make false accusations. In this case it's possible that the criminal would never have done this under different circumstances.
Often, though, false accusers are compulsive liars who have been making up stories about people since they were very young, who have never been punished for it.
“The criminal”?? Are you referring to the woman who wanted an abortion and will now go to jail because she lied to get one? Jesus Christ. I support her absolutely. If pretending you’ve been raped in order to get an abortion is the only way you can get one, then that’s what you should do. Religious freaks who want to moralize and control women’s bodies get what they deserve.
If pretending you’ve been raped in order to get an abortion is the only way you can get one, then that’s what you should do.
Incredible. Okay, that's all I'll ever need to learn about you.
By the way, why do you even come here? Is it just to prove that you're the attention-seeking idiot that we keep saying you are? You do know how we feel about false rape accusers, right?
Please Jesus, just ban her. Don't ban anyone else; just her. She serves no purpose.
jeana,
FUCK YOU and FUCK OFF!
jeana is a neo-fascist feminazi cunt that is poison to this board.
And it's not as if she's making us tougher by challenging us with difficult arguments. She just says dumb, obnoxious things that no one in their right mind would agree with.
Her post is legit. I met people like her in college. They're a dime a dozen. They are basically sheep being used by the PhD's in the Women's Studies Department upstairs. They look at themselves as martyrs for the cause. They perform all the dirty work and the PhD's take all the credit. In order for radical change to take place, you need blind puppets like her out in the frontlines.
Jeana,
Let me get this straight. She cheated on her husband, became pregnant, and to cover up the infidelity, she lied about being raped to get an abortion.
And you support all of that? That is more than a little disturbing. At what point do you hold her accountable for making crappy decisions?
You defend the worst of human behavior, and yet you wonder why people get angry. Maybe a little introspection is needed.
She more than supports it. She's behind it all the way. False rape accusations are just another tool in the arsenal of any woman who wants to imagine that she's a victim. But if we were to suggest that she avoid this situation by not having promiscuous sex that would be misogynyst. We have a moral obligation to enable whatever lies are necessary to avoid women being inconvenienced in any situation.
The woman wanted an abortion. The stupid law requires her to be a rape victim to get an abortion.
So the woman filed a rape complaint. Note that she did not point the finger at anyone. Very different from many cases we see here.
She is from South America. In lots of provinces, murder has a 3% conviction rate. I heard of cases where police did not come to the scene of a murder far out of town, because they did not have gasoline nor a car that could survive on the dirt road.
Usually police don't pursue most cases unless someone bribes them to do their duty.
So the woman probably thought that police would not get very far with their inquiry, or would just shelve it like in her home country.
I suspect (hope) that she would not identify any suspect as her rapist, if the police came up with one.
So the only thing she did is, probably unwittingly, waste police time.
This does not make it right, of course.
But I think her false accusation sin is a lot lighter then the woman who knowingly, intentionally, out of spite, accuses a totally innocent man who never had sex with her, or a man she clearly consented to.
Once more: it is not right what she did.
But she did not point the finger at any man, she did not try to get a man jailed.
It is probably on the level of filing a stolen luggage report in order to get insurance money. Rarely will police spend much time trying to find the thief.
I think one solution to the dilemma is to allow a woman to claim before the doctor, that she was raped but does not want to file a police report. I believe this is the explicit solution they found in some countries.
Of course, then everyone will cry rape to get an abortion. But at least they will not hurt innocent men. But, some people think they will kill innocent embryos.
