Falsely Accused for Rape, ‘We Were Treated Like Animals’
The four men who were falsely accused of raping an 18-year-old Hofstra student said they were treated like animals and that their whole family felt “imprisoned” by the ordeal.
"I was really scared,” 20-year-old Kevin Taveras told a CNN reporter. “I couldn't believe what was basically going through my mind. It was like a big nightmare, and I thought I was going to do time for something I didn't do. ...It was devastating. I was there just letting the clock tick and tick."
The Nassau County, N.Y., district attorney dropped charges and released the four men shortly after their accuser recanted her tale that they had tied her up and raped her in a dormitory bathroom. "The woman admitted the encounters with each of the men were consensual," District Attorney Kathleen Rice told reporters Thursday.
Her story unraveled when police told her that part of the sexual encounter was recorded on a cell phone video, Rice said. "That was when she began to tell the truth," she said.
Authorities have not released the accuser's name, saying they are concerned over her safety.
"Her actions and her demeanor depict a very troubled young woman in need of much help," Rice said, adding that she could be facing charges for the crime of falsely reporting a crime. The university has suspended her pending more details.
Stalin Felipe, who was also among those accused of the assault, said he was devastated by the charges. "We respect women," he told WABC TV in New York. "We know how to treat a lady. The thing they said with the rope, come on. That's disgusting. That's what we were looked at as: disgusting men. It did traumatize us. … I'm just happy to be home finally."
Added Taveras: "It was traumatizing. It's supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. …We were treated like animals. My mother was imprisoned with me. My whole family was imprisoned because of this."

And sadly, they will never completely be out of prison. They will suffer because of this for the rest of their lives, and that's why there needs to be an appropriately tough response.
But as we all know, that won't happen with this DA.
Gee, it's nice they are concerned her safety. What about that of the four boys who could have been beaten up or killed?
You know, in a way it's better that they were jailed, otherwise they'd have been open to physical attacks by unruly fascist mobs. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they were at least threatened by other inmates while in jail.
Of course they were threatened. Accused rapists aren't popular in jail.
The most encouraging thing to come out of this particular case is that while the media is ignoring Danmell Ndonye*, they ARE taking a serious look at the damage done to the young men falsely accused.
Kudo's to both BET and the NYPost for NOT ignoring the men.
* My guess would be that they are not looking more closely at her for three reasons:
A) Lesson learned from taking too close a look at Crystal Gail Mangum. She went from a woman trying to work her way through school to a common prostitute when a more complete picture of her came to light. The feminist sympathizing media doesn't want to make that "mistake" again.
B) Following for A, they are concerned about what they might uncover about her; leading to,
C) Focusing on her, and her sexual escapades could well lead to the general understanding that her sexual behaviors are NOT all that atypical of young women these days. Cheating, promiscuous sex, and general debauchery are quite common.
Releasing such knowledge into the public sphere would help people to understand why women so frequently lie about having been raped to cover for their (after-the-fact) regretted behaviors.
And, I feel I need to add that this, in no way, lends any credence to the idea of some "rape-culture" forcing women to lie about their sexuality.
the fact is that women face little in the way of long-term consequence (from society) for their promiscuity. despite the whining about "slut-shaming", it is something that occurs only on a small scale - and is aimed at a woman by those who know her (and, more likely by other women than by men - despite the Amanda Hess-ist BS).
Men may (rightly) choose NOT to marry women who've been promiscuous, but those women face NO discrimination in education, in employment, nor from anyone else who does not know. Unlike register sex offenders, their is no registry for skanks and sluts. They enjoy general anonymity for their debauchery.
Unless, of course, they decide to do something to highlight their behaviors to a wider audience - like make a false allegation which gets media attention. If these women simply accepted that they will lose "face" on a localized level (and possibly loose friends, boyfriends, husbands, etc.), they could simply move on, with most people non-the-wiser.
It's not some over-arching sexist, patriarchal, "rape-culture" which inspires false rape lies - it's simply not wanting to face the (localized) consequence of their chosen actions.
You usually beat most other people to the punch on news items, but here is one you may not yet have seen (or just haven't had time to put up)

But the blinding trust of friendship helped shatter Doke's world.
He was accused of rape and jailed for more than three months before officials realized they couldn't prove their case. The woman, a mental patient, apparently lied, prompting even the prosecutor to call her the most “out-of-touch-with-reality victim he'd ever seen.”
But the accusation did its damage — emotionally and financially. He has nothing left.
“Even being cleared, there is a fog that's quite heavy that hangs over me,” Doke said. “You can't get rid of it.”
Most of the time false rape accusers are compulsive liars who have been manipulating people their entire lives. They aren't just promiscuous women. This isn't about "general debauchery," but about lying scumbags on a power trip.
There is a virus going around that mentally ill women pick up. The virus is rape hysteria and rape hype generated from 40 years of militant academic feminists. It seems that it's easy for certain women to catch. First a sneeze, then a sniffle, then on to dial 911 to report a rape that never happened. The trouble is, there is no prescription to deal with these symptoms. Vitamin C doesn't help, neither does the legal system or society in general.
So be careful who you sit next to at the local park bench or even the bus stop. The women sitting next to you may already possess the false rape virus.

Quoted for truth.
Anon,
Thanks for the link. It's set to run.
