Speaking as an accused...
I like to see this run again, but by country to cover different laws, and by status (accused male, non accused male, female) to see how it would break down.
Anon for obvious reasons
I can't understand why the first one on the list didn't win. If I was falsely accused of rape, I'd be worried about my own ass first, and give lower priority to whether my accusor gets punished. There's not much you can do while in jail, besides get raped yourself. Besides, presumption of innocence is supposed to be a cornerstone of our justice system.
Maybe lots of guys did not interpret the question the same way I did.
" presumption of innocence is supposed to be a cornerstone of our justice system. "
It is but it seems to have been forgotten by all but those of us who take the oath to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution.
"I can't understand why the first one on the list didn't win."
Here's my thoughts Norm. As bad as the false rape epidemic is, most of us who haven't been falsely accused think that it's not a high probability event. We're focussed more on reducing the existing small probability, rather than worrying too much about the repercussions of that event actually happening.
If I thought a false rape accusation was a high-probability event, then I would have voted as you do - mitigate the damage to me first, worry about reducing the probability of the danger later.
Guys who aren't seeking relationships with women probably view the likelihood of an FRA as very low. Maybe there's a lot of them amongst the voters.
