'Rape victim' sentenced
An Atteridgeville woman was sentenced to three years' imprisonment after she falsely accused a man of rape, police said on Monday.
Police spokesman Inspector Daniel Mavimbela said the accused man had already spent eight months in custody after bail was denied.
The 25-year-old woman had falsely accused a 42-year-old man of rape after her uncle found she had had sex with the man.
During sentencing, Magistrate Pierre Laurens told the woman she had put the man through shame through her false accusation.
"You must be ashamed of yourself, the only sentence I can think for you is a prison sentence, you are sentenced to three years," said Laurens.
The woman had pleaded guilty to the charge of perjury. Her sentence gives no option of a fine.
The falsely accused man was a tenant at the woman's uncle's house in Atteridgeville.
In October last year the woman was apparently having consensual sex with the man, when her uncle heard noises from the room.
"He could not convince his tenant to open the door, so he called the police," said Mavimbela.
"It is reported that this woman feared the uncle and alleged she was raped after the police forced the door open."

She let her lover languish for 8 months just so as to save her reputation...with her uncle!
Three years sounds generous. What will it require for a man to rebuild the devastation to his life from being locked away for 8 months while everyone who knows him goes about believing gin his guilt.
And, once again, for the most meaningless of provocations, saving a woman's reputation.
Seriously, what does a women today stand to lose from her family learning that she is having sex? And how can that possibly be anywhere near to being on par with what a false allegation is going to cost a man?
She looses respect - he can lose his life.
What? Guilty? She lied? Three years incarceration? This is a slap in the face to decades of feminism. After all, the pseudo intellectual feminists have been telling us for years that women never, ever, ever, ever lie about rape. So what is going on here?
Only three years? She'll probably end up serving less time than he did -- and he was the victim! How long are men going to allow themselves to be treated as second class citizens? This obviously should be a twenty year sentence.
The solution? Be single, live by yourself, never have overnight female guests, and install video cameras throughout the house. That way not even the mail lady would get away with it.
[note: don't even live with other guys, because one of their girlfriends might accuse you of rape, then your 'friend' will become the leader of the angry fascist mob that chases you down.]

Well 3 months is a start for lying in court. She should also get an additional punishments for the false imprisonment. I hope the victim in the case also gets to sue her of every single penny she owns.
Not the crap reporting of the case which only describes how she had "put the man through shame"
Presumably he also lost his job, lost contact with friends , was separated from his family. Additionally, this is of course Sotuh Africa we're taking about - the most violent country on the planet - and many of these derange, violent sick individuals end up in prison. Just imagine the sort of people he was sharing a cell with!

When they realize there is life outside of trying to please women ,just so some of them can dip their wick in her vagina. As if doing so is the "only thing" that makes a man a man. I realize how brutal and crude this sounds but, no man should ever feel that he has to lower or degrade himself to the point of being a woman's playtoy, to do with whtever she wishes/desires including, being her scapegoat when her reputation is in peril.

I don't think that sounds brutal or crude at all - in fact, it makes a lot of sense. Anyone who thinks it's brutal is either an over-reactor or a p.c.-fascist.
But you can please A woman without supporting policies that degrade men and coddle ALL women.
