Lack of evidence and lack of cooperation from the complainants. These soldiers were rightly released. However, we don't know if charges will still be filed, or prosecutors will push forward in an attempt to convict. Based on the lack of evidence, they shouldn't.

Two Golani Brigade soldiers who were arrested over the weekend for suspicion of raping two female soldiers after spiking their drinks with a date-rape drug were released from custody Wednesday after investigators failed to gather sufficient evidence against them.
The case is expected to be closed without indictments.
"I was certain that the truth would eventually come out; it was a false charge," one of the soldiers told his attorney after hearing of the decision to release him.
On Tuesday the Military Prosecution announced that the investigation may be transferred to the police due to the fact that the soldiers were on furlough when the alleged incident took place, but during Wednesday morning's hearing, which was attended by Military Advocate General Avi Mandelblit, it was decided that in light of the stalled investigation and limited cooperation from the two complainants there was no reason to ask the court to extend the suspects' remand.
The attorneys representing the two soldiers, Shai Roda, Yahel Ben Oved and Boaz Reuven, expressed their satisfaction with the decision to release their clients.
"There was no justification to arrest them in the first place," Roda said, "it was clear that the women soldiers had fabricated the story.
"I am considering filing a motion to launch an investigation against the complainants and demand that the soldiers be compensated for the injustice done to them towards the end of their military service," he said.
On Friday one of the female soldiers arrived at a police station in central Israel and complained that she had been raped by a soldier the previous day. A short while later her friend lodged a similar complaint.
The Golani soldiers were arrested on Saturday and later interrogated by Military Police.
According to the female soldiers' testimonies, they arrived at the home of one of the male soldiers in central Israel at around midnight, where they were coaxed into drinking alcoholic beverages that were spiked with a sedative, apparently a date-rape drug. They claimed they were raped shortly thereafter.
The soldiers claimed the sex was consensual.

These IDF Soldiers were so lucky they weren't accused here in Tennessee. This state would have stopped at nothing to make sure they were imprisoned.

As one who firmly believes that the best way to help the public get over their prejudices about the veracity of women vis-a-vis rape claims is to EXPOSE the often shockingly shallow motives of those women who are found to have made false allegations.
Here, again, in my estimation, we have another case of woman having after the fact regrets, and worrying more about their reputations than of the devastation they can cause for their lovers.
Unfortunately, the press prefers to sweep the motives of false accusers under the rug, so the public is left to reach the chivalrous conclusion that the women must have bee suffering so great torment to have committed the heinous acts that they did.
The reality is, however, that it is simply more likely that these two women became concerned about what others would think of them having had sex with their fellow soldiers. Perhaps they were concerned that word of their activities would get back to commanders. Perhaps, as seems to be increasingly the case any more, they had boyfriends or husbands to whom they might have had to face answering for their having had sex with other men.
These two possibilities, while certainly embarrassing, and with the possibility of additional "penalties" come no where close to the long-term and far, far, far more serious damage that an ill-conceived false rape report will do to the lover they :throw under the bus".
Increasingly, these cases where it appears that the motivations of the women making false allegations come down to little more than protecting their precious reputations seem to be becoming the norm.
If only the public could be made more aware of how very little motivation there needs to be for a woman to callously throw a man's very life into the breach...

Usually when you stop by a guy's house around midnight, it's because you're there to have a few drinks; usually you don't go there to be coerced into getting drunk. What a bizarre and non-credible story.
And if you're that helpless how did you make it through boot camp? You can fight the enemy on the battlefield but you're too much of an infant to say no thank you, I don't want a drink?

Farrell gives the breakdown from the McDowell study of the motivations for making a false rape accusation. From 'The Myth of Male Power':
"To compensate for feelings of guilt or shame" was 20% of them.
"To avoid personal responsibility" was 4%

What is a "date rape" drug?
I was under the impression that, much like the "Mickey Finns" that
thieves, posing as prostitutes, used to addle their victims before robbing them and setting them adrift, "Date-rape" drugs had an property that allegedly erased the short term memory of the mark. Coincidently?, so does too many vodka drinks.
Regardless, how could a recollection of the events, including "...raped shortly thereafter" be available to both of them if a (so-called)"date-rape" drug was involved?
Surely the ACTUAL number of (horse tranquilizer/ eye medication)poisoning cases found vs. the unsubstantiated/disproved cases-(ie. morning after reputation regrets-), is so widely known to urban myth practitioners, to fall back on it by NOW?
