Male's false rape claim underscores that this crime is not confined to women

Biology dictates that most rapes are committed by men, and that most false rape claims are made by women. Women do not have a dishonesty gene that predisposes them to lie about rape; nor do men have a rape gene. We have often said that given the ease with which false rape claims are made, the fact that there are not a hell of a lot more of them underscores the good will of the vast majority of women throughout history.

In this news account, a male falsely cried rape. For reasons not explained, the man's identity is not made public, and, of course, as is typical in these cases, the law enforcement authorities are undecided as to whether he should face charges.

Another example that making a false rape claim simply isn't treated as a real crime. Sigh.

OAKLAND PARK - A man who told authorities he had been kidnapped and raped by two attackers early this morning made up the whole thing, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Investigators are interviewing the 23-year-old man to determine whether he should face charges. The Sheriff's Office did not release his name.

The man reported the crime about 4:47 a.m., telling authorities two men confronted him at a gas station, beat him up, then forced him into a vehicle, where they took turns raping him.
