The "Rachell Report".

The following link is to the final report after the exoneration of Richardo Rachell. The mistakes made by law enforcement, in the pursuit of catching a child molester/rapist, led to the imprisonment of Mr. Rachell for over 6 years. The injustice that occurred here, all in the name of getting the conviction, should merit serious review by the bar association, as well as investigation as to how police handle sexual assault reports.

I will let the report say the rest:

I just read that, and the efforts made by the police and his defence were pathetic. The fact that there was another rapist using the same MO as the rape this guy was convicted for should have tipped people off. If they knew about it.
I hope he gets adequately compensated, handsomely compensated in fact, for this miscarriage of justice. I just hope none of the other prisoners got to him inside and administers and ad hoc justice.

It doesn't look as though the accusers were in any way acting in bad faith here though. The errors were all entirely on the part of the justice system (Law and Order you might say.)
The identification was made in good faith by an eight year old boy, who'd just been raped (and later a 6 year old), and his mother trusted that ID.

Dende,

Agreed, on all points. This was a case of the justice system being asleep at the wheel, and failing to do their due diligence. Everyone from the investigating officers, to the D.A. to the Judge should all get some form of punishment for the gross miscarriage of justice in this case.
