Cops: Crystal Lake Woman Lied About Rape
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (STNG) -- A northwest suburban woman has been charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly lying to police about a sexual assault in her home.
Joann G. Edwards, 39, of 7508 Redwood Dr. in Crystal Lake, was arrested and charged Tuesday with disorderly conduct for filing a false police report, according to a release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s office.
Bond for Edwards was set at $10,000, the release said.
On Aug. 14, Edwards filed a report with police alleging she was sexually assaulted by a man in her home, the release said.
During the investigation, interviews with all parties, including witnesses, were conducted, and investigators determined Edwards had fabricated her initial statements regarding the sexual assault, the release said.
Edwards was arrested Tuesday and transported to the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility before being released on bond.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 11 in Woodstock.
